Just as fun as I remember from the last time I went before Covid. We got on a wait list, were told 90 minutes, and we’re called in an hour. The drinks were very good and the bartenders were amazing. We sat at the bar and were able to get drinks super quickly.

I enjoy experiencing speakeasies when traveling. This was by far the coolest one I’ve ever been to! The service was amazing. The staff did a great job explaining how they operated with associated fees as soon as you walked in. I loved that there were no surprises on my bill. I don’t want to spoil your experience but will say this was a one of a kind experience.

Headed over there around 10pm and our party was told we were on a two and a half hour wait limit. We were totally ok with that and were told by the hostess that we will receive a text message and have 5 minutes to come and grab our spot.. As the two hour mark hit, my friend went to check the wait list link on his app, and it said we no longer had a reservation, but we never got a text that our table was ready. We still headed over and were able to get a spot as the host was very apologetic. BUT I PROMISE NOTHING WAS MENTIONED ABOUT AN $8 COVER BEFORE WALKING IN. We get to our table inside, server is very dismissive. Everyone at the table is REQUIRED to order a drink as we had 3 ppl in our party who did not want a drink. When we got the bill almost $200 with tip.. Yes I still left 20% because as someone who works in the industry, I do not want to screw the sever, but I can tell you right now not deserved. I asked for the manager and told her we were NEVER told about a cover before walking in and her response was “ You must’ve missed it, she quickly says it before you walk in.” Once again DEFINITELY not said because our party would have not came here. Also watch them turn down a party of one from the bar when there were multiple seats at the bar. Our party was not too happy after the interaction so we went upstairs in order a shot to end the night and had the manager come up stairs and tell her coworkers working the bar what had happened. Had mean mug stares from across the bar. Unless you want bad service and stares from everyone staff member, would not recommend this place.

To find Speakeasy go inside The Green Door. Walk to back past restrooms down the stairs and open hidden door on right wall at bottom of stairs. You will need to be added to waiting list is filled

Dimly lit, strong drinks and cool freak show vibe. Shows run every so many minutes. Curtain opens and you don’t know what’s coming. We saw a Yukele guy and caberet. Bartenders were nice and good at their job.

Down stairs is a hidden gem! A historic speak easy with a show. The drinks were crafted so well and the food was yummy. Craig was informative and introduced us to the malort liquor. Overall it was interesting and entertaining must see in Chicago!

First of all, when you find your way there through Google maps, you end up in front of the Green Door Tavern.. no sign of The Drifter. So we sat and ordered food at the tavern. Then I asked our waitress if she knew where the Drifter was located. She smiled and pointed downstairs..
Did not expect that!!! Live show and lovely Speakeasy atmosphere. It was like diving in the 20s. We ate at the restaurant upstairs (The Green Door Tavern), and the Ruben was delicious

A wait for 15min. Not too long of a wait even just for 1. Drinks were great. I asked the bartender to surprise me with something dry and with gin. The burlesque show was fun – happens every 45min – I saw 1 performer do 1 song. Nice that the bar has coat hangers

DO NOT COME HERE NOT WORTH IT, SO MANY OTHER SPEAKEASYS THAT ARE MILLION TIMES BETTER! First they kicked us off the list even though we waited for three hours (no text, no nothing just kicked us off the list, I have proof pasted below) Charged a cover on a tab without communication about a cover fee (I’m fine with a cover but how about communicate that and don’t just put it on our tab without telling us), forces you to order a drink (if you don’t want alcohol or something with sugar it doesn’t matter you are forced), terrible service, blonde manager with green hair Saturday night 02/08/26 was absolutely ridiculous and rude to customers saying things like “get out of my face”. Would leave 0 stars if possible! As someone who worked in the service industry for 3 years at one of chicagos most reputable restaurants you never tell a customer “get out of my face”, this was an absolute joke!

What a fun experience! NO sign on the outside to tell that you are at the right place. NO sign on the inside. Just wander to the back, down the stairs, and there’s the door! NOTE there are no reservations but it only seats 36, so you will likely be on a wait list. For a Saturday night, however, we only waited 5 minutes for 3 of us. We got a front row seat to live jazz music. It is a VERY small space. The tarot cards at the table are different cocktail mixes, very fun! Overall a very unique experience.
