The bartender was friendly and fast. The outdoor space is great. Ordered a burger and garlic parmesan fries (+$4) at the bartender’s recommendation and a beer.

The burger was good but their “garlic Parmesan” fries are literally piled with a huge amount of minced garlic with a small amount of shredded Parmesan mixed in??? It was not good. Thankfully most of it could be scraped off, the fries themselves were really good to be fair.

Mediocre beer options, mediocre burger. Came back a second time in between classes with my dog to give it another try. Planned on sitting outside but you have to order inside, kept my dog close and on leash. Went to order and was informed by the bartender, “no dogs inside” okay, told him “I planned on sitting outside and came in to order.” Again, same response, worse attitude.
I don’t need to spend my money here, their food, service, and beer selection is not worth the pricing. Weird name to have such a bad attitude towards dog-owner patronage.
For the business owner, bartenders shift at 12:30p on 2/12.

“Kiger” was nice at first, but then he wasn’t. By 7:30 he was downright awnry.

At first he made us the best margaritas we’ve ever had, then another few, but then things took a turn for the worse.

We respectfully asked for extra alcohol in our 3rd drinks and he told us, “You can get a double if you want.” Now, I had tipped him last week so I was like, “Huh?” Then I called him a word that really didn’t even apply to him, so I dont know what the big deal was. I also ACCIDENTALLY bumped into the silverware shelf too.

But “Kiger” doesn’t understand mistakes, apperently he’s perfect. And hear this, him telling me what to order reminded me of my last boss, who was ALWAYS telling me what to do. Look, if I’m paying $4 for a hand crafted cocktail, then I should be allowed to decide how much alcohol goes in it, PERIOD!!!!!

Like, are you kidding me!?!?!? It was rude. And gross. And demeaning. He made me feel poor.

So, we had some words with each other. He made some great points during our interaction, but I was right, for sure. Once everyone stopped yelling we eventually got our drinks… and overpaid. They were pretty darn good, I’ll tell you that right now. But the whole thing still kinda sucked. My uncle was in the military and it kind of reminded me of that.

The night went on, yet I couldn’t help thinking about “Kiger.” The thought of his unprofessionalism turned in my head like two marbles going round and round and round yet again in a funnel until the truth inevitably popped out the bottom and hit me right between the eyes: this place blows.

This also reminded me of my uncle’s experience in the war.

And just like my uncle all those years ago, I was triggered.

Needless to say, my friends and I decided to leave and go to Lupe’s, but apparently they went out of business, so we went home…

After an hour we got bored decided to go back to The Downward Dog, but “Kiger” wouldn’t let me in because I allegedly “scratched” him during our previous conversation.

People in the service industry used to care about customer service. Now all they seem to care about is not getting “scratched,” or whether or not they were legally assaulted, or overserving people.

Downward Dog sucks.

I did not scratch Kiger.

They also have an elk head on the wall that I was not warned about and it freaked out my real service dog and he bit me.

Good burgers and tots, fantastic cocktails, bad service.

Takeout order. Food was cold. Food was just decent. Overpriced for what it was. Employee was not professional when taking my order over the phone. Building looked cool inside and out.

I’m not a college student, but I have one, and she recommended this place while we visited her. This place is not glamourous, no frills, but WOW their food was great and their prices are amazing. This is 100% a place I recommend for students eating out on a budget. The staff were all very friendly, too.

Edit to add: I talked to them in person and it was just one person and they knew who it was. They were much better. It seems like there may have actually been a problem with the phone and when it decided to work that was when they were rude

Incredibly rude staff that does not want to do their job. The staff I delt with had me thinking there was a problem with the phone when I was trying to place an order to pick up and only in hindsight did I realize they were picking up only to hang up without saying anything. When they did actually say something it was to tell me to stop calling. I do not recommend at all and they will not be receiving my business and I will be sure to let everyone I know how rude they were and that they don’t want actual business.

We came here on a Sunday and the drink deals are mind blowing. $4 mimosas and bloody Mary’s. But also normal menu wine of the day is $6 a glass that is a heavy pour (my hand in video for reference ). I live in Portland and you would not get this deal anywhere. I used to go to the original downward dog that used to be downtown back when I went to school here. When I found out it closed I still had to stop by before walking over to campus.

food quality is good,BUT I placed an order on the phone arriving there 25 minutes later to get cold fries. Objecting shoes are being called. No apology was made. I paid four dollars for a small order of fries and all I got one objecting to them being cold was that I had placed your order half an hour ago. $20 for a burger and fries and you tell me that? If I had known that was going to come out of your mouth, you would not have gotten the dollar tip you for being so bothered as to take it from them.the shelf and hand it to me. The price, cold, fries, and attitude earn a two star review, and as it stands now I will not be back.

As far as pubs go, this place is a winner. They had the college world series on all the TV’s (great taste in sports), served me decent red wine (I know, who drinks wine in a pub, but I always do), I had a great grilled chicken and garlic fry lunch (lots of legit garlic) and the atmosphere was super relaxing. Well done!
