The perfect balance of modern rustic charm and cozy local outpost, the Dog & Bear Tavern offers a thoughtfully crafted menu of locally sourced and organic food. Our menu is shaped by the seasonality of local produce, as well as our relationships with local farmers and ranchers. Started by a local couple from Lake Tahoe, CA, our mission is to bring delicious food and memorable experiences to our neighbors, in support of our neighbors. Named after our founder’s dog, the Dog & Bear Tavern opened its doors in December 2021.

I love The Dog & Bear. I’ve been here plenty of times and the pizza is always so good. Their beer and wine selection is great honestly, and the staff is super friendly.

Found this great gem while staying in West Shore , “The Best Shore”. Pizza was delicious. I though it was going to be a full bar it was only beer and wine. No biggie, it was all good. A must visit and fyi they have other dishes than pizza, will be back to try them.

This place was PACKED when I went around 6 pm. The wait-list never seemed to change positions and the staff didn’t call out names although locals seemed to always get a seat just by talking to people. I eventually asked about how long of a wait for 1 person and they said to try my luck waiting for an open seat at the bar. That worked, but then why even have a wait-list? The food was excellent but the service was terrible. Granted, they were slammed (most likely due to the triathlon). Still, most of the staff essentially ignored you unless you forced an interaction and even then it took ages for things to happen.
In short, if this place looks busy when you go, then be prepared for a wait and don’t be afraid to speak up for service. The squeaky wheel is the only one to get attention here.

Arguably the best pizza in all of Tahoe—the ingredients are top shelf, and the combination of flavors work together harmoniously. I love everything on the menu from their Caesar salad to their meat lovers pizza. As mentioned by others, their pizzas aren’t all made of the traditional run-of-the-mill ingredients. Some of the more notable callouts include truffle oil, duck confit, & kimchi (not all on the same pizza). The staff is amazing, and the ambiance strikes the perfect balance between upscale & unpretentious. The clientele is a nice mix of locals & tourists, and newcomers & regulars are welcomed alike.

Dog and Bear Tavern totally surprised me—in the best way. I had a hard cider and their apricot, prosciutto, and arugula pizza with white sauce… and let me just say: next world level. Absolutely amazeballs. The flavor combo was unreal, and the crust? Perfection. The staff were super friendly, and the whole place had that warm, local vibe that makes you feel right at home. There was a short list of specials, oysters, chocolate covered strawberries, and a few others. We got the truffle coppa pizza, the poutine (OMG), the oysters, and chocolate covered strawberries. It was all really good, and the service was great! We sat at the bar and our bartender was super nice and sociable. The prices are a bit high, but given the quality and the service we will be back.

The service was top notch, the pizza was some of the best that I have had, and the rest of the menu (ahi tuna, short rib, homemade ice cream) are all.terrific. They also have a great list of craft beers and very good wine. This place is an under rated gem.

We had Quincy and Amber for our servers. What a phenomenal experience! Second only by the food. Definitely get the Coppa Pizza and the chili chicken wings. The Coppa has a phenomenal flavor profile that you have to try to understand. The wings are yummy, perfect amount of spice.
