They had a hangar steak special. I’ve never had a hangar steak before so we thought what the heck and both ordered it. It had a rich taste but so tender. I tasted a wine, maybe worchester sauce, and seasoned to perfection. I had their augratin broccoli, this was pretty good. A little too much cheese sauce for me but very tasty. smashed (can’t remember what they were called) potatoes, these needed heat. The ceasar salad was wonderful. Not drowning in dressing, the lettuce was crisp and very fresh and it was garnished with fresh parmesean cheese and homemade croutons. They also had bread and butter. I think it was a sour dough bread and really creamy butter.. very yummy. We brought home a slice of cheesecake and carrot cake.
I will return and try something else on the menu. This was sooooo good.
We started with the baked pretzel appetizer — perfectly soft with just the right touch of salt. My husband ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Rice Boat, and after the first bite he literally said “Wow, that’s good” out loud. I had the Garlic Chicken Breast meal, and it was so good I didn’t even think to snap a picture until I had already finished my green beans — no regrets!
For dessert, I treated myself to the white chocolate cheesecake. It was very rich, but in the best, most indulgent way. I also had the Lemon Drip martini, and let’s just say it disappeared quickly.
Yes, the prices are a bit higher than other spots around Fredericktown, but honestly? Totally worth it. This place delivers on quality, flavor, and experience — and we’re already planning to become regulars.

I came here a second time (the next day) and I receive the same high quality service. This place claims to be a “cafe”, yet the ambiance, the service, the food, and everything else is more of like a fine-dining restaurant in St. Louis.
This cafe is not like the others. This cafe is more like the offspring of a fine-dining restaurant and cafe (and I like that).
I eat out a lot and I have tried a wide variety of restaurants. I know quality when I see it and this is quality. This is a gem.
I came here after a long hike around the Silver Mine.
The pumpernickel with dill dip was much needed after the long hike. And when I asked for a coffee with bailey’s, they were happy to accommodate.
I also ordered a Greek salad, the patty melt, and the pretzel with cheese.
Everything was delicious.
The music was Frank Sinatra and other “swing” and “sing” Era artists. 30’s-50’s musicians. It was lovely.
I loved that there was a combination of family and classy types of people. You don’t have to feel like you’re supposed to be dressed up to go here.
Next time I visit, I plan on trying the Cajun pasta.
I also want to try what looked something like a chocolate martini.
Update: February 2026.
They no longer have the Pumpernickle bread bites with Dill dip. When I told the server I was sad that my favorite item was gone, he responded, “Agree to disagree.” The atmosphere feels different than last time. Maybe because I visited during the day and not at night like last time. There was hip-hop music playing this time. Around valentines day they have a unique menu but the regular menu is pretty basic with some fish dishes that you can’t find anywhere else.
