If you find yourself in New Iberia, Louisiana, don’t miss the chance to swing by The Dawg House on Trotter Street. This drive-thru-only gem offers a fantastic blend of friendly service and delicious eats. The staff greets you with genuine warmth, ensuring that even a quick drive-thru visit feels special.
Their menu is packed with mouthwatering options, and the staff is always ready with great recommendations to help you choose something perfect for your palate. I would give this less than a one star, but that’s not possible! I simply cannot believe that this place isn’t capable of serving the shredded beef brisket by itself! We went through the drive through and asked specifically for one of their bbq brisket sandwiches without the bun. They asked if we wanted a hot dog or hamburger and I said, just the beef by itself, and they said they could not sell it to me!
What would possess someone to not sell beef by itself when if anything it cost them less is beyond me! The ignorance of the girls working there was just above and beyond. They asked us to wait for the manager to discuss it who would later in the evening!
Instead, we went to Caribbean Ice and got great service from Heather and even got treats for my puppy!

I’ve visited The Dawg House twice and was disappointed both times. Both visits, I was served burgers with raw, frozen centers despite their appetizing, well-cooked appearance on the outside. The manager claimed they cooked the burgers for 15 minutes but admitted to not checking the internal temperature, which is a concerning practice. When I raised the issue, the manager was argumentative and dismissive. This lack of food safety and unwillingness to listen to feedback is alarming. If they don’t improve, someone could get seriously ill. Avoid this place if you care about your health.

I tried the hot dog my wife & i & yes they are exceptional good the chill was awesome & The Lejeune Buns are a key success for hot dogs. The kicker on the hot dogs is they put plenty of chill you don’t have to ask for extra chill when you phone in your order. This was Tuesday so I said today I try the cheeseburger & fries & a medium drink it was awesome also they make their own meat patties it’s not a patty like Burger King ships in . The Price was good also this combo was $11.31 . I am from New Iberia & I will be back. The service was 15 minutes or less & the employee was nice at the window.

I loved it! They were so nice over the phone & in person. Food was fresh! Didn’t even make it home. I had the hamburger fully dressed, fries & a drink. It was definitely worth it!

First time checking them out and I’m upset I haven’t been sooner. Staff was sweet and so kind. As my son and I was waiting for our food, my truck had a huge nail in it. I explained we are changing tires out and the young man was so nice to us and said it was no problem. Their generosity once we were done by not letting pay for 2 waters. It’s the small kind acts of service that makes me want to keep on coming and praise this business. thank you staff!

Very good hot dog with chili. Loved the chili and the bread was excellent. Not just a bun but a mini French. Will definitely be back. Only have take out but worth the trip. New Iberia needs great places like this to get lunch.

I ordered a chili dog with a weenie. There was very little Chile for the amount of bread. Way to much bread. The weenie was lost in it. So it made the whole thing kind of dry.
It had good flavor and it was made while I waited. So the dog and fries were really hot.
Maybe change your bun , Or at least make it smaller?
Great service

I was in Lafayette and a buddy of mine said this place was worth the drive and he wasn’t kidding. Burger and fries were to die for would of loved a cold beer and somewhere to sit but still the food makes this place a 5 star visit.

I have to break down the rating in categories. This is for hot dogs and onion rings:
1) bun – excellent
2) weiner – excellent
3)chili – good – needs a little more seasoning/spice
4) toppings were cheese and onion. Cheese was great. Onions were ICE COLD. Not a good thing.
Verdict: the hot dog with super cold onions on top made the whole hotdog taste cold. Don’t put freezing cold onions on top of a hot dog. It’s called a “hot” dog for a reason.
Onion rings. So hard to find places still offering true, hand battered onion rings. We were disappointed these were bland, beer battered onion rings.
Bottom line: we’d go back for just a hot dog with chili and cheese. BUT – old school hand cut and floured onion rings are a must.
As much as we were excited to see this place open, looks like we’re going to have to deal with Duffy’s wait time or go back to Pelicans.
