Went for the 1st time yesterday with the family. My wife and I ordered black coffee, which is a regular drink for us at a variety of places. My son ordered a hot chocolate.

Our beverages were not great. My wife and I didn’t even finish our coffees and thought they tasted bitter. My son said his hot chocolate lacked chocolate flavor.

As for the environment, it’s really busy which usually indicates a good thing — high demand! But after visiting, we have no desire to go back. It’s such a tight space that it’s difficult to move around, find a place to sit, enjoy your beverages, and even exit when you want to leave. Not a comfortable atmosphere. This may have been influenced by a big event in Stillwater yesterday that caused a spike in traffic, but still that Stillwater is always bustling, and other popular spots are able to keep up. One positive feature is the bookstore attached which has some great books.

The staff were polite and kept up with the flow.

Overall, there’s better places. Normally, you go to a coffee shop to get coffee. The only reason I’d come back here is for the bookstore.

Nice coffee shop on the river front. Open early mornings promptly. Pick up a coffee and cross the bridge from Minnesota to Wisconsin side!

I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but I took my friend here and she loved her Americano drink. They have a nice selection of pastries/treats at the counter that looked delicious. They have a few tables inside to sit at. They also have a nice patio in the back that you can see the river from. It’s attached to the bookstore, which is also a neat feature.

This place definitely needs some help. Some of the staff is working their butts off and others could care less. Waited 15 mins for a drink after ordering, only to realize they forgot our order and it wasn’t in the queue. Then they said they couldn’t refund me when I said we had to leave. I don’t blame the workers as it was swamped, but they need better managers and some more training. Unfortunately won’t be coming back.

Cute little coffee shop in the back of the bookstore. Staff is friendly and service is quick. Bathrooms are very nice and large single rooms.
They had a very good chai tea latte that wasn’t too hot and the price was less than I have paid at other coffee shops.

It’s really disappointing to be treated as…. Unimportant or less than. Regardless of the reason, no one appreciates being cut in line, or staff rewarding that behavior by servicing them when others have arrived first and have been patiently waiting.
If the Daily Grind is comfortable with their current client base, okay. But if they want to expand and gain more loyal customers- I’d suggest treating everyone as equals.

The Daily Grind in Stillwater is a hidden gem with a caffeinated soul. It’s tucked inside a charming little bookstore—zero chain store vibes, all cozy indie magic. You walk in and instantly feel like you’ve stumbled into a secret coffee haven.

But first—a warning: the menu is HUGE. All hand-written on a giant chalkboard like a caffeinated scroll of destiny. It’s almost intimidating—like standing at the edge of a cliff, your brain spinning as your eyes frantically search for footing.
Deep breath. Take it one line at a time.
You’ll find your gem. And trust me, it’s worth the read—it is in a bookstore after all.

My boyfriend and I each snagged one of their adorably named drinks—he got the Lindsey (a white chocolate masterpiece), and I got the Kristine, a blended raspberry and chocolate beauty. Total bliss. And, plot twist—I got the last of the raspberry! Complete kismet. The next person in line was denied, and I floated away victorious, sipping my perfectly blended drink while the universe high-fived me.

Both drinks were so good our taste buds started doing synchronized backflips. Eyes rolling back. Full coffee euphoria.
I was so enraptured I completely forgot to take a photo of the drinks.
Tragic for you. Epic for me.
Guess you’ll just have to go and experience it yourself.

I did manage to snag a photo of the super cute jewelry they had for sale though—priorities, okay?

Whether you cozy up inside, hang out on their adorable patio, or stroll straight to the water with your drink, this place is perfection in-caffeinated.
(Warning: may cause spontaneous happy dances.)

The cinnamon role was so good! And the cherry cordial was also very good – I mostly tasted cherry and almond but I really liked it. I love when coffee places have fun flavors. Americano was also strong. It’s cute that it was connected to a bookstore.

Small coffee spot attached to the bookstore. Clearly loved by locals who gather in the morning. Delicious espresso and the owner has a mindset of having a TON of options, so you can absolutely get almost anything you can dream up. Much better than a chain coffee shop.
