This was our first visit and will definitely be going back!! Went for the Game Night and had so much fun. The food was amazing. My daughter had the Mac n Cheese bowl and I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Both were great. We also shared the Crab Rangoon Dip, Chips and Queso and the Creme Brulee. Everything was wonderful! Great atmosphere, great service and great food. 10/10!!!

We had a fantastic meal here – it was surprisingly the best meal we had on our trip and it was also one of the cheapest.

The positives: the staff was great, the nachos were amazing, the huckleberry ice cream was surprisingly good, and the atmosphere was awesome – very chill and laid back.

The negatives: the $6 margaritas are not freshly made it was straight from a premix. Maybe I should have known based on the price, but it’s definitely not what I expected from a bar. The lime one was decent, but the strawberry was so terrible I ended up just shooting back so I wouldn’t have to taste it. The cardamom pineapple cake i had didn’t have a very good crumb and was kind of cornbread-y. The parmesan garlic wings weren’t terrible, but they weren’t what my daughter was expecting due to the strong smoky flavor so we didn’t end up eating them.

Staying in Custer for a week and this was the first place we landed once settling our RVs. Tons of tables, large beverage selection including local beers, wine, NA, and more. Decent pub fare. We happened upon bingo night, which is a fantastic night to come. Great energy and atmosphere. $1 per round and you could win hundreds per round (or $1k-$2k jackpots). Dog friendly! Patio seating, too. Right off the Mickelson Trail.

Fun place with a good vibe! We came here with three teenagers and enjoyed the music and the food. Three people had the orange chicken one, the special of tacos and one a burger. I think we all agreed. It was pretty darn good food. Two of us tried the peanut butter mousse with brittle and thought it was phenomenal. Helpful staff. Good service. Great food!

Came here with the dog who was so hot from hiking and he could come inside. The staff was so nice to him and gave him milk bones. The pull pork sandwich was really good and they had musical bingo as well. This is definitely the spot in Custer

One of my favorite music venues in the Black Hills. Outstanding food, chill atmosphere, and great local beer on tap.

One of the best middle sized live music venues in the hills with acts every weekend along with other activities thruout the week.

Definitely worth the trip.

This place might as well be the Custer, SD visitor center. We were in town (or just outside of it) for three nights and we stopped by every night for food, live music, and karaoke. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the only MUST during our entire trip in South Dakota. We did a lot: Mount Rushmore, ATVing, hiking, Deadwood, but The Beacon is what I find myself thinking about today at work.

The food was really good (I got ribs) and was served from the side building after ordering from the bar. The interior venue space is large and well-designed. They have tables near the bar with pool tables and a few high-tops but the stage is surrounded by couches. I absolutely LOVED this. Coffeehouse vibes but with a prairie spin.

I get the feeling that this place functions as kind of a town hall. I feel like we met a good cross-section of the town while we were there. I cannot speak highly enough of those we met here. It was truly the perfect welcome to the Black Hills.

My only regret about my time in Custer is that we did not spend more time here. The bar staff was fantastic, the food was great, and the locals were friendly. The Beacon has a good mix of locals and tourists, especially in the later hours. DO NOT MISS this place. I am not sure if I will ever be back to Custer, but if I do, I hope I can stop by and have a drink. Thanks for the memories!

Absolutely amazing establishment!! Visited on 8/3/24 with Indian Motorcycle company for a meal and drinks. Very nice place and spectacular food. Kiddos to whoever worked this, you did an amazing job!
The food provided was a salad, brown beans, pulled pork, grilled chicken, and 2 flavors. I’m sure i forgot something. Everything was delicious.

Completely remodeled and open for business! Custer needed a venue like this! Last year was awesome, this year will be amazing. Lots of great bands are booked already, super friendly staff and a great selection of beer and wine. Best of all it is family friendly! Definitely stop, if you’re on the way through town, or if your looking for some entertainment!
