The bottom line is when the service sucks…I have lots of other places I can go.
Now the longer version. My wife and I walk in and there are three people sitting down and there were two people outside (5 patrons…we made 6 & 7). There were three wait staff. We ordered the OG charcuterie board, a cocktail and I ordered the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon…a double ($125). I knew what it was and wanted it. Then came the “we don’t have large cubes”. I bring a Yetti so my cubes don’t melt as fast, but I like my drinks cold. They have a great bourbon selection, but no large cubes…should have known then. The OG was great. While eating it, I knew it would not be enough for us (me). I flagged the bartender down (b/c it was so busy…one person came in and the other five left, so we are down to three people all sitting at the bar). I ordered a pretzel. She said I could only get two of the three sauces. RUFKM??? I just dropped $125 on one flipping drink (that’s also an over $20 tip for you). When they came out, the sauces were in 1oz cups. That made me madder. Eventually, I finished my drink and pushed my cup towards the edge of the bar (universal sign that I want another or you can take the cup…but again, it was my cup, so it meant I’ll have more). After ten minutes and finishing our food, I asked for the check. I tipped the lowest amount it allowed on the screen, which was 20%. It should have said custom tip and gave less. Having been a server before, 20% is very low for me. The shame is, I am a glutton for punishment and I was going to have another very good bourbon. They could have made more money off of me. Anyway, the bartender was nice but incompetent. The Crafthouse better hope they crush it in the summer and in takeout boards. I want local businesses to do well. When you allow your wait staff to kibitz amongst each other and blow off your customers…even ones that spend real money, that is a HUGE RED FLAG that the management accepts/condones/has no flipping idea. I would love for the Crafthouse to reach out to me…

Such a cute place! Had been waiting to get down here and try it and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
The cocktails were wonderful. I will say though if you’re with someone who doesn’t drink- stick with a soda- because I just don’t feel like the mocktails were good at all- but it’s a cocktail bar and they’re good at the cocktails. The OG board was great and 4 of us snacked on it while we played a few table games – like connect 4 and tic tac toe. 🙂

The wife and I loved this new charcuterie cocktail bar in Surf city. Great selections from local beers on tap to whiskey, tequila etc. They even had some adult seltzer to choose from. We shared the Caprese board. So good. Nicely decorated. We will be back for sure.

I have ordered several boards for all different occasions. Besides the amazing presentation and quality of meats and cheeses, I love how they always customize to the event. 10 stars for sure.. Looking forward to visiting their restaurant/ bar when they open.

It was Saturday night just before eight o’clock. While waiting for a take-out order we had placed elsewhere, we decide to try this place for a couple of glasses of wine and a cheese board. When we entered, there were perhaps 9 people scattered about the bar, plus 2 additional people at the ten or so tables. We opted for a table. There were 2 people “working” behind the bar. After about 5 minutes we were able to get the attention of the male employee. After a few more minutes he brings menus to us, placing them on table with no other comment. We were ready to order shortly, but 10 more minutes passed with no return or recognition by either of the 2 employees. Too busy with the 9 people at the bar I suppose? Maybe our mistake for thinking table service given there’s a food menu. As we pondered whether we were indeed were supposed to go to bar to order or whether to wait for the fellow at the bar to return, two more people entered and were immediately served at the bar. I guess our mistake for thinking with two employees and few patrons, there was actually table service. Once we saw the immediate service to the latest arrivals, we opted to leave. Doubt they ever noticed. Hopefully neither of the two people “working” are part of ownership. No need for us to go back.

Love love LOVE this place! The food is BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS and the wine list was very impressive for Surf City, and the decor is fresh and fun… these people know hospitality. We’ve been two times and will keep returning, so excited to have Crafthouse Charcuterie here!
