The wait is a great part of the experience thanks to ice cold refreshments available for purchase at the check in and a nice deck, corn hole, and sites to enjoy before you get seated. Our server was excellent and the food tasted fresh. I drove my leftovers all the way back to VA, they were so good. Can’t wait to go back!

A little dated atmosphere in need of at least minor repair. The hush puppies were delicious! I was a little put off since they were cleaning the grease trap when we arrived…P-U! Not much of a wait, of course we were visiting midweek during lunch.

Great little restaurant and fantastic lunch prices. I got the flounder and it included sides, hush puppies and my drink. The flounder was breaded just right and it tasted wonderful. Service was great too.

Delicious hushpuppies! Ordered the scallops and crab panned, both very tasty. Whole family was happy with their meals and look forward to next year. Great service and atmosphere. Get there early! (The place was packed by 5pm)

5 Stars – Absolutely Outstanding!

My wife and I had an incredible dining experience at The Crab Shack in Emerald Isle, NC! From the moment we walked in, everything was top-notch. We were seated in about 10 minutes, which was impressive given how popular the place is.

We ordered steak and snow crab, and I have to say the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and tender. The snow crab was fresh and delicious, and the combination made for a meal we’ll remember for a long time.

But what really made the evening special was our server, Denise. She was phenomenal: professional, attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. For our first time dining at The Crab Shack, she made us feel like regulars. She answered our questions with a smile, kept everything moving smoothly, and her timing was spot-on. Denise truly elevated the entire experience.

We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll be asking for Denise again! Thank you for an unforgettable night.

I came in with a large party, and the Crab Shack made it easy. Even though I don’t eat seafood, my family does—and this place was a fantastic choice for all of us.

They seated us inside comfortably, and the vibe was casual, cozy, and welcoming. My family went all in on the crab, shrimp, and hushpuppies, and they were thrilled—everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what they were hoping for.

As for me, I ordered the hamburger steak with a side salad and green beans, and it was surprisingly great. The steak was great, the salad was crisp, and the green beans had that home-cooked feel. It’s nice to see a seafood spot that still puts care into their non-seafood options.

Service was friendly and efficient, even with our big group. The staff kept things flowing without ever making us feel rushed.

Whether you’re a seafood lover or just tagging along with some, the Crab Shack delivers.

Although there are a lot of seafood options on the island, this is a good bargain for certain things, and has especially good senior discount options. My grandfather always preferred this spot before he passed away and my parents also love it. They have some of the better fried shrimp on the island, larger in size and with a thicker batter than Big Oak or food truck. Their fried scallop burger is also an excellent deal, with scallops that truly melt in your mouth, especially when you dine in and eat them hot. You have to remove the abductor muscle yourself, which is a bit annoying to do after they’ve already been fried and put into a sandwich, but not a huge deal. The seasoning is a bit mild and lackluster for some of the blackened and panned items, but order to go and add some seasoning if you like more flavor. It’s a local diner sort of vibe with no frills and cheap drinks.

After an afternoon at the beach last week my best friend took me to lunch. We had my dog with us, but they let me take her out on the back deck. What a great place to enjoy a meal. I mean, look at that view! Our food came out quickly and it was so good! I had enough food to bring home for lunch the next day. I will definitely be visiting again when in the area.

We should have stopped at hush puppies and beer. The hush puppies were delicious and addictive and it’s hard to go wrong with Coronas. Though our server was attentive and helpful, the whole meal was overpriced for what we got. I ordered the grilled (lightly seasoned) shrimp with baked potato and cole slaw sides ($27) and my husband ordered the crab cakes with the same sides ($30). The grilled shrimp were pretty good, but actually seemed sauteed in a garlicky sauce, and there were a lot of them. A couple were definitely not cleaned well. Sides were unremarkable: baked potato was edible, and the cole slaw too bland/creamy for my tastes. My husband’s crab cakes were not lump crab meat and not good. It seemed that the view, rather than the food was what you were paying for, and I would have rated higher if the check had been more in line with the overall experience.

The food was pretty good, but we did have better on the island the night before. We did not have to wait very long though and we’re able to walk around since we got a text when the table was ready. The seafood was market price so $27 for shrimp and $30 for mahi-mahi. The hushpuppys were fabulous though!
