We had a fantastic Gluten Free lunch, the service was wonderful friendly and professional. Sarah and Juan took care of us and made sure we were well taken care of. My wife and I both had the Gluten Free Jumbo Haddock and chips. Wonderful, hot, crisp and lovely fish. Tasted great large portion . You have a wonderful team and you will defiantly see us back to try new things. Thank you .

Lovely family meal tonight. The service was amazing. There were a couple of small glitches, but the speed at which they were resolved meant they didn’t affect the overall experience.

The main issue was coffees being served lukewarm. When coffees start from £4 and upwards, temperature should really be spot on.

I had two personal observations. Firstly, I’ve visited twice in the past four days and the daily special was the same both times. That didn’t tempt me, as I wasn’t sure how fresh the cod would have been by the second visit. Secondly, on both occasions the jumbo fish supper wasn’t available by 6 pm. Don’t get me wrong—the regular portion is more than big enough—but I fancied the challenge.

That said, don’t let this deter you. The service and food quality were excellent. Easily the best tartare sauce I’ve had, and when I asked for the ice cream on my sticky toffee pudding to be replaced with clotted cream, it was done without any issue.

Overall, a great experience and somewhere I’d happily return to.

I loved the Cullen skink, the taco fish was good and also the crab crumpet. Probably they are a little bit too expensive for the family restaurant they are abd they need to improve the dessert options, not many choices. We ate the lemon meringue pie, but we received a lemon tart with berries sauce (that wasn’t stated in the description) and a meringue on top. The lemon tart was fine but they should explain that it is not a meringue pie and there are berries.
We told the waiter and he said that he was going to inform the kitchen but 1 second later he was in another table taking orders. I wanted to have a feedback at least…

Firstly I’d say the customer service exceeded my expectations. After reading some of the reviews, I wasn’t expecting much but every new business needs time to smooth things out and work through early teething issues. I wish I’d caught the staff members names because they were genuinely perfect and exactly how great service should be.

We ordered the platter and the food was good. Whatever they’re putting on the lobster is unreal. The monkfish was great, and the mussels were tasty too, though a bit on the oily side. I think I would have preferred them in a cream sauce rather than an oily broth, but they were still delicious. The crab was good as well. You get crab on the side which is great and they also include a deep fried soft shell crab. A bite or two of that is lovely, but after a while it felt a bit too heavy. Perhaps it could be served differently instead of being fully coated in batter and oil. For me it leaned towards oil overload, but that’s just personal preference. Chips were decent, and we also had the Burrata, which was very nice.

Overall everything was very tasty the staff were wonderful and the setting is great. Maybe some less oily options added as the menu develops and adjusts would be good.

Small place next to Tesco’s. Staff are pretty fast and didn’t mess about. Nice short menu but some interesting dishes available. I tried the softshell crab and muscles which are both nice. This is a clean well run place with reasonable food. Nice.

I’ve spent much of my adult life searching for the perfect fish and chips, and I believe I’ve finally found it here.

The fish and chips are nothing short of exceptional. The haddock is fresh—not frozen at sea—and of noticeably premium quality. The batter is outstanding: light, crisp, and it stays crunchy right through to the last bite. The chips are equally excellent, perfectly cooked and full of flavour.

Honestly, this place deserves national recognition. If they entered the National Fish & Chip Awards, I’m confident they’d have a real chance at winning.

I won’t name other establishments, as there are many good ones, but I can say this: it’s better than any other fish and chips I’ve had in Edinburgh, and even rivals the most famous spots in Whitby as just one example.

Beyond the food, the restaurant itself is beautifully fitted out, with a welcoming atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff. While there are plenty of tempting seafood options on the menu, it’s the fish and chips that will keep me coming back.

A truly impressive experience—well done, and keep up the fantastic work.

Well no more driving to anstruther or longniddrie. Brilliant dish and chips. I never eat tarter sauce but even that was delicious, friendly staff, chilled atmosphere, look forward to coming back, trying the scallops next time

We had an absolutely wonderful time at The Crab & Lobster Fish Shack.

From the moment we arrived, the front-of-house service was exceptional.

The team were attentive without being intrusive, regularly checking in on us and making sure everything was perfect.

A great effort all round.

Being in the military, I’m all about high standards — and this place absolutely delivered.

The food was outstanding from start to finish.

Our starters and mains were packed with flavour, beautifully cooked, and presented beautifully on the plate.

You can really see the care and attention that goes into every dish.

The cocktails were excellent as well — expertly made and thoroughly enjoyed.

We loved the open kitchen concept, being able to see the chefs hard at work.

It adds to the atmosphere and shows the pride they take in what they do.

This place is worth every penny.

Most importantly, my wife was very happy — and as they say, happy wife, happy life

P.S. Pay the service charge — they absolutely deserve it.

Went over to south Queensferry to the crab and lobster for a wee change. Nice and clean and Food was ok. Service was ok but felt it was a bit overpriced for being basically a glamourised fish and chip shop. £53 for what you see in the photos. Also £4.20 for a small bottle of Diet Coke. We won’t be in a hurry to go back.

I have to say walking into The Crab and Lobster Fish Shack was an amazing experience with the table layout and colours blending into the wall colours which gives the setting of the sea colours. Right away you can feel the vibe you’re in for an amazing experience with a bar that allows you sitting time to enjoy a cocktail before going to your table. Was next to the cooking and the serving area and watching the master at work – Jack do his magic and having the team all working as one was good to watch and see how a professional owner of a business works. The fish arrived and the fish was delicious with nice and crispy batter with all the meal prepared on site including the potatoes which when cooked to perfection and gives that extra flavour. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff have a passion for producing authentic gourmet fish and chips with delicious additional crab and lobster choices. The ice cream and desserts are prepared by the talented chefs and served with the front of house staff who are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your dinning experience memorable. I would highly recommend a visit and enjoy the ambiance and the delicious food that is served with passion and the love of cooking. Well done guys thanks for the great experience.
