I stopped by The Cottage Bar planning to sit at the bar and ended up catching happy hour which is absolutely the move. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower wings and wow. I had never tried them before and now I am fully obsessed. Crispy bold and flavorful without trying too hard. One of those dishes that surprises you in the best way.

I paired it with a mule from the happy hour menu and it hit just right. Cold refreshing and balanced which made it easy to settle in and stay awhile.

The bar itself feels like a classic neighborhood tavern. Lots of rich wood paneling warm textures and low lighting that reminds me of an old school dive bar you would find up north but polished and intentional. It is cozy without feeling cramped and relaxed without feeling sloppy.

This is the kind of place that works for a quick bite after work an easy happy hour or a laidback date where you actually want to talk. Comfortable welcoming and quietly charming. I came for the bar but I will definitely be back for the food.

We were in the neighborhood and saw this restaurant on goggle maps. Since we planning to visit Ireland this year we wanted a taste of Ireland. The place was lively with a great vibe. The service was friendly and fast. The good was very flavorful with generious serving. Parking was a bit tight. Overall awesome experience with great food and reasonable prices.

Wherever you go you can find an Irish Pub applies to finding this wonderful Irish Pub in San Antonio, Texas. Guinness on tap, delicious Fish and chips and then finished off with a tasty bread pudding for dessert. Great atmosphere with attentive service. Highly recommend!

I read an article about an Irish Bar by the name of The Cottage Pub that had really good food. I was not disappointed, the food was great and the service was excellent! We were served by the owner himself Philip. A kind true Irishman with a twinkle in his eye and a sparkle in his smile. I had to try their fish and chips and I was not disappointed. The fish was crispy and tender and placed over hot and piping chips. So very good! My husband ordered the Irish Sausage Sandwich which was served on a baguette topped with grilled onions and he loved it. The Guinness was frothy and cold. I was in Irish heaven, we will definitely go back again!

Was our first time here. The atmosphere was delightful and eye pleasing. We had just missed the live band but the pub’s music playing was fantastic. It was 80s New Wave!

Ordered: Cottage Pie Skins
Guinness Beef Stew
Fish and Chips
Baileys Cheese Cake
Guinness Extra
Sweet Tea and Water

Cottage Pie Skins. I thought this wasn’t going to taste like much of anything but I was wrong. The ground meat was delicious and the capers and carrots tender. Their whipped mashed are amazing! No words can describe our excitement over the way they tasted.

Guinness Beef Stew was flavorful and piping hot. You don’t need to add any salt or anything to this dish. The veggies are tender. The meet is tender and delicious. Their potatoes are a hit.

Fish and chips. The fries look a but greasy but far from it. They are salted to perfection and are delightfully homemade. The fish would have been the star of the show but unfortunately mine was a little over done so the cod was chewy. Regardless, it was delicious.

The cheese cake was spectacular. You can taste the bailey’s which tones down any sweetness. It was very delightful.

Definitely come back to try more dishes. When I do I will update.

Total before tip: $67.49

Ordered the potato and leek soup. Sat at the bar. Then ordered the steak sandwich.

The Potato and Leek soup was just cream and no other flavors. Wasn’t really any potato. I went there to maybe try the cottage pie or chicken pot pie. Which all have a special cream sauce, I think the soup I ate was JUST the cream sauce. So I looked to order something else, disappointed I went with then steak sandwich.

Streak sandwich is the just the ingredients listed placed on an open faced hoagie. The steak is just three strips of steak, which were inedible. Of the just fat and cartilage, I literally wouldn’t be able to swallow the pieces unless I chewed for 20min. The napkins in the photo are where I spit out the pieces. Ive never done this in a restaurant before. I’m not at all a picky eater, but it was literally inedible. Of the steak, maybe 1/6 of it was actual meat.

I would come back here to drink again, service was good. But I have no clue why the ratings are so high. I frequent Irish and english places often (soccer fan) so I know what a potato and leek soup should taste like. Steak sandwich was terrible.

This place was fantastic. I had the fish and chips and my husband had the steak sandwich. I ate all THREE pieces of fish and nearly all the fries. I could tell everything was fresh and homemade to include the tartar and horseradish sauces. There’s a spot set up for live music. The lighting and seating is very welcoming. Staff members were excellent and very personable. We will definitely be coming back.

We found the Cottage Pub by chance after having just left an extremely underwhelming anniversary dining experience and still very hungry. I was on the hunt for comfort food to salvage our night and I definitely found it. We will be going back with our children for a family night. I rave about the food to anyone who asks for a dinner recommendation.

I was in San Antonio visiting my family, and we had lunch after checking out the Witte Museum right across the street.

This place is exactly what I picture a pub in Ireland looking like! They managed to seat our group of 9 without any issue, and the service was top-notch throughout our stay.

Everyone in the group absolutely loved their food. The Guinness beef stew and the cottage pie were definitely our favorites!

My new favorite pub! Great Irish dishes, pub atmosphere and even a small game room in the back. Just a great place to come and have a drink, eat some Irish dishes and listen to good music.
