I went to pick it up and realized this is a pre-prepared Indian grab and dash location. So when I got there, my order was “ready”, but it didn’t save me any time as they just dipped it out when I got there just like they would any walk-in.
Not a bad thing, but just be aware that calling ahead isn’t necessary. It does explain why the gentleman didn’t ask me how spicy I wanted it when I called in. As its pre-prepared, you cannot have them adjust the spice level.
I ordered a lamb curry with garlic naan. My intent was to have the naan to be complementary to the curry with rice. However, they simpyl substituted the rice with the naan. Not their fault, I should have been clearer with my order. Just mentioning this for anyone else, be exact with what you are ordering.
The food itself was tasty. It is definitely more flavorful than I was expecting from a grab-n-go in a marketplace. But I wouldn’t put it in line with the higher quality fine dining Indian restaurants I’ve been to previously.
For the price, it is solid. And since it is the only Indian in Mansfield that I know of, I’m grateful for it.
I will be back, and I am sure I will be back often. Good experience the first time around. Albeit next time will be even better, as I will order properly for what I want exactly.
Edit: I have been back twice since my original review. I’ve ordered the lamb curry and the chicken curry, as well as the vegetarian samosas twice.
Honestly, the curry is inconsistent. Like today when I ordered the lamb curry, it was just a pool of oil. The oiliest and greasiest curry I’ve ever had. And the time before when I ordered the chicken curry, it was really bland.
The rice is consistent. As is the naan.
The samosas are really good. Crispy on the outside and have plenty of flavor on the inside. And the dipping sauce are delish.
But the curry itself, two out of three times it was really bland. And this last time I was dipping my naan in straight grease.
Hard to give a fair review when the quality is all over the map. The first time I was here I gave it four stars. The second time I would have given it two stars. And this last star was maybe a two star if I’m being generous.
It’s the only Indian restaurant in town. So will I be back? Once, but if it the quality is still subpar I’ll have to just make my own curry at home.
The store is getting remodeled but, where the eatery at its fine except for the seating part.
The restaurant part is clean
