My coworkers and I went here a few weeks ago for a brunch on a Friday morning. This is my first time at this location and I was very eager to try everything! You can park inside of the shopping center parking structure or if you’re lucky find Street parking. We decided to order a large cinnamon roll to share ordered a variety of different coffee drinks with my co-workers looking as beautiful as a martini! I couldn’t decide between their variety of egg Benedict variations, and the waiter shared that I can order one of each! I ordered the pork belly and crab & prosciutto benedict, both were amazing and very different! Serving sizes are also very generous I cannot eat everything. Overall really love the my meal and definitely would go back!

I grew up in La Jolla and always remembered my mother and her friends going to The Cottage for brunch and many times I went with her. It was great back then and it is still good now. I have been to many different restaurants in this location here in Del Mar and I would say this is one of my favorite ones that has been here. The Cottage is a solid breakfast or brunch option and it is usually pretty consistent and quick. Parking is plentiful in the parking garage attached, the first two hours are free. We were able to be seated for a party of three right when we arrived and our server was very polite.
Inside is quite small, there aren’t any very large tables however, it has a very cozy and homely feel to it. Service is also very fast so the tables will turn quickly. They have indoor seating and also outdoor seating which can be really nice depending on the weather. For my breakfast I chose the Chilaquiles and added chorizo. Unfortunately, it was soy chorizo, I wish they would have the real thing, but it was still really good. I also got a Cinnamon Roll and thought it was just OK. It was not gooey enough for my personal taste, but some may like it. Overall, I really enjoyed the breakfast and will stop in again in the near future.

We liked our experience there, but it wasn’t a 5-star experience! The food was okay not special, the drinks were good, and the service was okay. The space is cozy and clean, very close to our favorite beach in Del Mar. There wasn’t any outdoor seating available when we arrived but the indoor seating seemed to be more comfortable.

Great spot in Del Mar. Nice selection, vibrant food, fresh and well presented.
Great service and nicely located below the plaza which makes parking super easy.
Been a fan of the cottage (la Jolla) since 1995 but do like this one a lot!

We had brunch with family over Labor day weekend and we all enjoyed our food. It’s rare to find gluten free french toast so I was excited to try it when I saw it as an option, it was delicious! Customer service was great!

Absolutely delicious brunch! Came for the wife’s birthday, and they did not disappoint, with each item being great.
As an addition, they are dog friendly, which helped as we had our fur baby joining us and our kids to celebrate.
I highly recommend checking outthis place. Minimal wait when arriving aground 10:45 on a Saturday.

Cute spot! Sat right on the patio. Excellent service from a young lady who had cool style too. Best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had…the aioli with the bacon, fried egg, avocado, thin sliced onions…ugh it was insanely good. Potato’s were crispy and hot. Excellent cappuccino. YUM! We’ll be back 🙂

Absolutely DO NOT eat here if you’re celiac or have food allergies
I ordered a simple vegetable scramble with potatoes. They told me they have “great gluten free bread” and encouraged me to add it to my order, which I did. Meal comes out, and the bread looks too good, so I double check it’s gluten free and of course it’s not- so I send it back. The rest of my family has a meal already and is basically done eating. Comes out a second time and it’s wrong AGAIN this time with cheese on it (I can’t eat dairy either). After that, I just sent it back and said I’ll eat elsewhere.
As I wrote this, the manager came up to the table I am assuming to apologize again, but saw me writing this review and just said “oh ok” and walked away, clearly upset I had the audacity to warn others about this experience. 0/10 for me
Further update: Manager came back to the table and literally berated me for writing a review. I told him I feel like I have a responsibility to warn other celiacs. He was talking over me, interrupting me and eventually I just left. I’ve dined all over the country as a celiac and never had a situation like this one. He was hostile and defensive of his staff, repeatedly saying they are “hard working people.” I said that hardworking people can also be incompetent, which the kitchen staff clearly lacks any sort of competence regarding food allergies. Later of course he said that the kitchen doesn’t know what the word gluten means after repeatedly defending their inability to read and execute a ticket.
TLDR: The staff is aggressive, the food was bad and apparently the staff doesn’t know what gluten is (even though half the menu is marked gluten free)

We visited The Cottage in Del Mar for brunch, and it was an exceptional experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, truly hitting the mark for a perfect brunch spot. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our meal. The ambiance added a cozy, relaxed vibe that complemented the delicious food. If you’re in Del Mar, I highly recommend stopping by The Cottage it’s definitely worth a visit!
