We started with the garlic toast appetizer, which set the tone right away. My wife had the Secret Garden cocktail — very well balanced and reminiscent of a French 75 — and I enjoyed a Moscow Mule followed by a glass of Frog’s Leap Zinfandel with dinner. We both ordered the filet mignon, and it was hands down the best steak I’ve had in Prescott — incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. The sides were excellent as well: the garlic mashed potatoes were smooth and flavorful, and the loaded baked potato was elevated by candied bacon, which added a unique and memorable touch.
Service was outstanding. Our server, Brie, did an excellent job, and the entire team was attentive throughout the night — water refills, clearing plates, and pacing were all handled seamlessly. Despite an unexpected mechanical hood issue that made the dining room a bit smoky that evening (they were clearly working to address it), the experience never suffered. Sitting by the windows overlooking Courthouse Square — beautifully decorated for Christmas — made the night feel extra special.
To top it off, they surprised us with complimentary chocolate truffles for the birthday, which were truly excellent and a very thoughtful gesture.
Yes, this is a pricier restaurant — but you get what you pay for here: high-quality food, professional service, and a dining experience worthy of special occasions. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we made reservations for another visit before we even left. Places like this matter. If Prescott wants to keep standout restaurants in prime locations like Courthouse Square, they need our support. Highly recommend for birthdays, anniversaries, or any night you want something special.
As someone who manages a local business nearby and regularly refers and promotes Prescott businesses, I will gladly include The Copper Note in our advertising for people visiting Prescott. Amazing service. Delicious food. Warm atmosphere.
The interior is beautiful: Manhattan meets the Wild West with an art-deco edge and a striking centerpiece bar. The food was outstanding. I had the ribeye with poblano sweet potatoes—an unexpected combo that absolutely worked. My wife ordered the Voodoo Pasta, which was packed with flavor. The sausage was a nice touch to the creamy vodka sauce.
Service was exceptional, especially given how busy it was. The Copper Note honors the legacy of the square while layering on innovation. This place feels like it’s here to stay.
We strolled in on a Wednesday night around 7pm, no reservation. All tables full, with several parties waiting to be seated. I am a realistic diner, and so I quickly realized we might need to come up with plan B. I humbly approached the hostess, and she graciously responded that she would have a table at about 7:45. I was delighted with her offer. She guided us to the waiting area. The bartender came over to get our drink orders, and we had a fine time waiting for our table. We were seated earlier than expected, and were waited on by Garrett – 5 star server! The intoxicating smell of grilling meat was all the convincing we needed to decide our dinner orders.
My NY steak was prepared as ordered, Med-rare. I didn’t realize it came pre-sliced. Next time I would order unsliced. I prefer to let my meat finish & rest a bit on the plate before cutting. It was a very tender piece of meat, I was very pleased. The fingering potatoes are very tasty.
We also had 2 Center Cut Ribeyes, Med-rare. The Ribeyes were surprisingly lean, not what my guests are used to in a Ribeye. They both agreed the NY was the winner, but nothing too negative to say about the ribeye. It’s a large portion, definitely shareable. For sides, they each got the fully loaded baked potato. They especially enjoyed the bacon on the potato, which was a thick piece of sweet/spicy goodness.
For dessert, a chocolate flourless cake and creme brulee. The chocolate cake is served chilled. For me, it lacked deep chocolate flavor, but I’m a chocoholic, so maybe for most guests it would be fine. The creme brulee was good on all points – creaminess of custard, crack factor. Overall, I found the temperature to be on the warm side, and I like my creme brulee cold. Again, personal preference, not necessarily a criticism.
Wine selection is fair, with good prices on bottles. We enjoyed the Quilt Cab.
In all, we were delighted with our experience and cannot wait to return!
We got the New York strip with fingerling potatoes, and the steak was cooked perfectly! I also had a strawberry basil martini, which was absolutely delicious.
Truly excellent service, we loved her! We’ll definitely be back.
But that didn’t happen. So I will include the details.
Overall, it was a good experience, particularly on the service side. Our server was excellent. We were visited by a manager as well. Really very little fell short on the service side (one minor exception I’ll get to later).
The food was very good. We started with the shrimp cocktail and it was great – delicious, plump, and sizeable. Great cocktail sauce and I even liked the micro greens served with it. It was delivered by itself and we had to ask for small plates. No big deal there. Maybe not everyone needs a plate, I get that.
We enjoyed the sparkling wine (can’t remember specifically what it was). At one point, my wife noticed a gnat floating in it and she tried to remove it herself but wanted another glass. So we pointed it out to the server and asked for a new glass but would’ve continued drinking the champagne after the gnat was removed. The server replaced the glass but empty. So we lost over half a glass there. Would’ve been fine removing the insect and keeping the champagne or at least replacing the half glass.
The entrees were both steaks. Wanted to get the ribeye but it was out (right on opening hour too). So we went with the NY strip. My wife ordered it with the 6 oz lobster tail and the garlic mashers. I ordered it with the broccoli and the mushroom topping. Medium well for both of us. When they were delivered, my wife’s steak was pretty undercooked (not just pink but red and bloody). I was okay with mine, it still had some blood on the bottom of the plate but it wasn’t that undercooked. Also the lobster tail was put on my plate instead of my wife’s, which is insignificant but the person who delivered it (not our server) kind of argued about it with us (“my ticket shows it was ordered this way” (even though we said then the ticket’s incorrect because we know what we ordered).
But of course having to send the undercooked steak back throws the timing completely off at that point. I either have to let mine get cold or eat it without her. Let alone now the lobster tail is also now cold.
Then when my wife’s newly reheated steak was delivered, it was put in front of me again and another argument about who ordered it according to the ticket. The steaks themselves tasted really good and I have no problem with the cost of the steaks either.
I splattered some of the steak blood on my shirt inadvertently when I accidentally dropped a piece of broccoli on it and I’m not sure what the normal protocol is (whether to clean up/wipe away drippings from the bottom of the plate).
Appreciated the complimentary dessert, that was a nice gesture. And granted, we ordered a second bottle of sparkling wine (partially because of the longer duration (not that we were in a rush at all) resulting from re-cooking the steak and partially to cover the lost half glass), but for a $300 dinner, we didn’t feel the value was that good (yes the steaks are reasonably priced but I’m referring to the overall total cost).
Ambiance was EXCELLENT too. Loved the copper overall theme, and particularly the copper silverware. The bar is really snazzy, I liked the open feel and the rectangular shape. The restroom was clean too (I didn’t mind navigating the two doors and liked walking around the nice dining area).
I really think this can be an outstanding restaurant but I wouldn’t return at least not at this point.
