This was our first time in this place. We drove in from out of town because it was otw to where we were going. At first it seemed like a great place. I asked them if they were in fact like Mayflower seafood restaurant because of the image it shows when you look them up, she stated “it’s better”. I absolutely disagree with you ma’am. The portion sizes compared to Mayflower is MUCH different! You definitely get your money’s worth at Mayflower seafood restaurant, this place not so much. We got about half of what we would normally get in our the trip to the Mayflower restaurant. That was the first thing we noticed immediately. Now the Alfredo dishes 2 of my daughters got were decent size and they shared no complaints of their meal. My son said the wings(half hot/half buffalo half bone in/half boneless) weren’t that great. He was very disappointed that the buffalo ones was just regular wings with sause haphazardly poured on top. My other daughter who usually loves the spaghetti at the Mayflower restaurant absolutely hated the Spaghetti here. She stated it tasted too much like flavored tomatoes on the spaghetti with meat thrown in. Now to what I really want to talk about -the seafood. It was good but not enough of it for what I paid and definitely won’t make me come back. It was was smaller than the usual serving at Mayflower. And I know I’m comparing it to Mayflower a lot and that is because she told me it was “better”. However, it’s definitely not. Usually upon visiting a Mayflower restaurant I usually have so many things left on my plate it doesn’t even look as if I ate anything. Here, you can see almost the whole plate and it was insane. There were only 2 small round “hush puppies”, some badly steamed unseasoned broccoli, fried okra and a few popcorn shrimps. Maybe less than a handful size. My husband got what was similar to the captains special, while it came with 2 crabs which is 1 more than the Mayflower seafood restaurant they weren’t very good. They added some kind of season that threw the whole thing off. Then the scallops were small, I didn’t even see the oysters that were supposed to be included. It was just bad. While the taste of the shrimp was okay, I can’t say so much for the rest of the stuff. Almost $150 later, I was angry and we were still hungry which rarely happens when we leave Mayflower and if we are, we would usually still have an entire tray full of food left to eat. Not the case with this place. So by the end of the meal the waitress acted as if she was trying to push out of the restaurant despite the fact that we weren’t really bothering anyone or anything. We were off by ourselves and it was mostly dead. Like we were pretty much only ones in there. Now I have 2 stars for both food and atmosphere because of all things mentioned above. The service I gave 3 stars only because she did keep our table clean and drinks filled even though she was also trying to push us out the door. I would not go back to this place again just because of that but add all the other things to it and it’s definitely a deal breaker for me. Next time I will stay in Durham and get my food at Mayflower or call and verify before we get there if they are actually like Mayflower restaurant and take a minute to read the reviews and ask questions. This place is NOT better than Mayflower. It doesn’t even compare. Just because they have nautical themed items inside, similar meals, definitely doesn’t make it even close to the legend that Mayflower restaurant is today! Especially the Mayflower on 15-501 in Durham! So this is on my hard NO list for restaurants to go back to. And yes I did tip the freaking waitress even when I should not have.

Ordered a salmon salad thought it would look like the picture I was wrong. They bought me a nice size piece over the top of shredded lettuce I asked them what happened to the rest of the salad they told me I had to go to the salad bar and make it. My coworkers meal had more sauce on it than anticipated when she asked them to correct it they bought it back even worse. She only ate her side salad.

The food was good, the slaw that came with was not. The waitress was really nice but seemed like she had to much to do, so we had to wait a good bit for everything.

Tried to order online, website issues, tried calling multiple times no answer no vm. Husband went in and placed order. Went and waited. Came back picked up order. No salad even though it was charged. Baked potatoe, no butter or sour cream. Fried fish most definitely from freezer burn to plate. Roxboro needs a consistent, decent restaurant.

I stopped in here with a large group to eat lunch on Sunday and we were all very pleased. The place was nice and clean looking and we did not have to wait more than a couple minutes to get a table. The staff that worked there were super friendly and they kept our drinks full and served our meals promptly. It is kind of off the beaten path so you might not be able to notice it from the road. You can expect to receive the same type of meal and service that you would get at a traditional Seafood style restaurant like this. The food portions are going to be very healthy and they will quickly refill your drinks and bring you more hush puppies. But if you’re looking for some seafood and you are in the area I would recommend this place. I enjoyed it.

The food was very good. The plates at the salad bar were a bit dirty and greasy feeling, but once we brought it to their attention, they were replaced by clean plates.

I wouldn’t give this place any stars if I could! This place is definitely not associated with the Mayflower chain in Durham and other places!!!!
Very small portions for the prices. The buffet was bare, they said for 30 mins that they were putting fish out, but they never did.
You have to order and pay before you are able to sit down and eat in. Very few things on the menu and no kids menu.
There was a hard shell of some sort in my daughter’s French fries
Have to beg for refills on water!

Good food that tastes like a comforting home-cooked meal made with care. Prices are appropriate. The dining room could use a bit of sprucing up. I’ll go back.
