Even with one waitress, the service was fantastic for a busy Wednesday night. We were celebrating a double birthday, and our waitress was great handling the large party. The appetizers were great. We had fried wickles and fried green tomatoes. We tried the tator to nachos, but they were odd and not for me. My entree the chicken sandwich was okay, chicken juicy, but all the flavor came from the greens. I probably won’t get it again. The wife had the grits with chicken instead, and that was good. The atmosphere was nice, but I hated the stools for lack of comfort. The banana foster cheesecake was overly sweet, but it had nice flavors. Overall, I would come again, but this would be a great place to drink and have some appetizers for us. Many others commented on their entrees being not good. The pork chops were too dry for some, for example.

Our little side trip to Wetumpka took us to this restaurant. It was good. The shrimp and grits was probably the best thing we got. The service was fantastic!

Had the shrimp and grits and it was excellent. They use smoked Gouda cheese in their grits so it has a little bit of a smoky flavor, which was very nice. The only reason this restaurant is not getting five stars is because of the wait and lack of staffing. The service, once I got it, was good. But they told me I had a 15 minute wait, which turned out to be over 30 minutes. They only seemed to have one waitress working and there were a lot of empty tables. Many people walked away because of the wait. This place has great food and it’s really clean and nice but it needs to be better staffed or no one‘s ever going to stay. I would not go back in spite of the good food.

So I was out doing a little Christmas shopping today and decided to walk into the Coosa Cleaver. Watumpka has a really cool downtown and this restaurant is a hidden gem. A casual establishment with an upstairs bar area and a down stairs traditional restaurant, the Coosa Cleaver fills a bunch of needs. I sat upstairs so I could watch some Alabama basketball and the bartender was super nice. It did get a little crowded at lunch but that’s a check mark for the delicious food. I saw a few really good options but settled on the cowboy burger with sweet potato fries. The fries were thick cut and delicious. Just the right amount of crispy without being over done. The burger was also really good. My only complaint was that it was a little dry. Not over dry, just a little. Everything else about this burger was awesome. I loved the bun! If you are curious to see what Watumpka has to offer check out the Coosa Cleaver while you are there.

Absolutely terrible. I will never be back. Walked into a hot building (it was only 84 outside) to receive some of the worst service I’ve ever had. We were seated even though I was second guessing my decision to stay. Had to ask for menus. Had to ask for drink menu. Had to ask for silverware. Had to ask for straws. Had to ask for refills (from the hostess no less because our waitress disappeared) and ICE for our drinks because it was so hot in there. Mind you this place was not busy at all!!! When drinks were delivered they where handed out wrong. The waitress delivered my brother and stepmother their mixed drinks and the girl handed my brother his, and then stated “whatever this other drink is here it is”. REALLY???? My flatbread was completely FLAT indeed and void of flavor. I can’t believe this place is still in business. How embarrassing to own such a poorly managed restaurant. No more business from me and I will share my experience with others also.

I enjoyed going here. I had the French fried covered w their own cheese sauce w Bacon had some Jalapeños on it. (Very Good) then I had their Special for the night which was 2 chicken breast with cheese bacon and I believe a honey bourbon sauce which was on point and it came with Garlic mashed tators and roasted green beans. Was very please with the food. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and quick! Def worth a visit.

We’ve been many times, but it just keeps going downhill and sadly this was our last visit. Long story short — broken AC made it very hot, terrible service, disgusting bathroom (dirty, smelly, no paper towels, soft spot on the floor), and rude bartender/manager. Stay away and go to Grumpy Dog or any of the other friendly, local spots.
