Located in historic downtown Wetumpka, Coosa Cleaver offers a casual dining experience serving American pub fare with a heavy Southern flair. We strive to use as many local products as possible and pride ourselves on making as much from scratch as we can. From dressings, sauces, and cocktails, we love to create something special almost as much as we love being a part of this great community.

The food was delicious across the board. We had the spinach and artichoke dip, brisket potato skins, and the fried green tomato sandwich, which was delicious! Most of the kids ordered cheeseburgers and raved about how good they were! Cocktails were also perfect! We ordered the cinnamon beignets for dessert-Melt in your mouth!
The restaurant is located in a quaint old building that adds to its charm. Overall, they did a wonderful job with both food and service. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
We ordered for lunch…
Cowboy burger & Old bay fries
Alabama Catfish & red potatoes
Chicken Fettuccine Alfred
Bread pudding w/bourbon cream we shared this for dessert
We went again to this Monday as we found out coaches corner was closed.
Sat on the second floor at lunchtime, only a few other tables were being seated.
I ordered the cowboy burger, cooked to medium with cheddar cheese. The food came out 42 minutes later, wrong cheese, no condiments, cooked to well done and it was lukewarm at best. Didn’t have a crunchy fry on the plate. When our waiter Noah brought the food out, I asked if we could get the requested condiments when we originally placed our order. They never came lol I just went downstairs and grabbed them myself. Told me he was going to refill my sweet tea three different times and never did. I hate being confrontational, and I also didn’t say anything about my food. I knew it would be another 40+ minutes of waiting to get it corrected.
I want to like this place because it’s a local spot, but the attention to detail and service is significantly lacking the few times we’ve went for lunch throughout the year.
We attended the Oktoberfest in downtown Wetumpka, which was great! After walking around a bit, my mother wanted pretzels and I remembered seeing them offered at CC, so I suggested we stop in. Two in our group stopped at Fizz Co. and grabbed some nonalcoholic boba drinks. At CC my mom and I were greeted by a very nice waitress who quickly told us about the pretzel bites and showed us to a table.
Mind you, I had a draft beer in my hand because this was a festival and Wetumpka is an entertainment district meaning you can walk around downtown with alcohol purchased there. Nothing was said about my beer. My mother ordered the pretzel appetizer with a drink and we decided to stay and eat since she had just finished chemo two days prior and was feeling a bit hot and tired. Our two others joined us with their drinks purchased from a neighboring establishment and as we were looking over the menu, a woman approached us rather rudely and said we could not have those drinks in their restaurant. She said they could be thrown away or we could leave. We were not going to throw away drinks just purchased so we decided to leave. The waitress came back over and I told her what had happened and to cancel our order. Then, I told her my mom would just sit by herself and eat her pretzel bites while we waited outside. Since they thought we were leaving, they put my mom’s drink in a to go cup and charged her 1$. They did not take this charge off when she decided to stay.
The pretzel bites came out and I ran back in to try one. I figured after all this trouble at least they’d be good. NOPE! Frozen chewy pretzels with water consistency cheese sauce that was not good.
We ended up finding the pretzel food truck and it was delicious! She finally got her pretzel and cheese sauce that was actually good with great service.
We tried to support a local establishment but ended up with much better food and service at the food trucks.
It is not against the health code policy to allow outside food and drinks so it’s the restaurants own policy, which is understandable. However, I believe this policy should be less enforced during downtown events. We noticed others came in with Fizz Co drinks and they were also told they couldn’t bring them in and they threw theirs away. Maybe it’s just Fizz Co they have a problem with.
