Man, the food is good! I got the smoked bracket Po’Boy with fries. Fries are well seasoned, crunchy with a soft inside: perfect!

The Brisket Po’Boy was a great sandwich! Seasoned, the bread had a thin crunchy crust with a soft inside, and the brisket is was savory and a little bit tough, with bbq sauce on top completed it!

Service was very friendly as well!

The atmosphere is outside…its really a to-go place and sit in was bare and freezing cold in the winter.

Their current location was a little tricky to find but well worth it! They told us they are establishing a place more visible which is exciting but don’t let that stop you from going now! The ribs were amazing and so is the mac and cheese

This hidden gem of a BBQ restaurant can be found behind the Elks Lodge off Village Drive. Let’s get the bad out of the way, and that is the restaurant is only open Thursday through Sunday from 1200 – 1900 hours, which limits our enjoyment of this gastronomic delight. Now the good, everything here is over the top in quantity and flavor and will be a sure hit to all that love Southern BBQ food. When you arrive, you will walk up to a small window and place your order, then take a seat as your order is prepared. Our recommendation is the “3-meat combo,” which comes with two sides and trust us, you will not be disappointed with your meal. Some might consider some of the meal prices high, but we are always willing to pay a little extra for that perfect rack of ribs or brisket. The restaurant only offers take-out or outside picnic table dining under numerous fabric covers. I believe on the weekends they might have some type of live entertainment since there is a stage in the corner of the dining area. There is plenty of free parking on the north and east sides of the building but there are no restrooms available, at least we could not find any. Anyways, bring your appetite because you are going to need it and what you cannot finish there, you can bring the rest home in a doggie bag.

This place is amazing!
Thank you so much for putting the burger toppings on the side, we really appreciated that!
My sandwich was so so good! The salted and peppered lettuce on top was the cherry on top, best sandwich I’ve ever had!

This is not a normal restaurant, it is catered towards takeout and has limited outdoor seating. When we went many items were out of stock, including ribs. That said, we got the brisket and it was very good and the portions were large. The sides and cornbread were great as well. I will also note they did not pick up the phone when I called. I would recommend stopping by for some great barbecue!

Carolina BBQ sauce & BBQ sauce is amazing.
The pulled pork tots. Delicious! My favorite is the coleslaw they top it with.
Our server was extremely friendly and very attentive. He was on point with his item suggestions and very positive.
The entrées, well served and delicious. Everything we ordered was home cooked. This Cook shack isn’t going to be a secret for long!!

Be aware that access to The Cookshak is located at the back of the building. We ordered the 3-entree meal: brisket, pulled pork, and cheddar jalapeño sausage for $37. It came with a big portion of cornbread and we chose 2 sides of mac and cheese. It was a lot of food and all of the meat was tender and delicious. The cornbread was hella dry. It needs some work. Overall though, I’d recommend this place if you want BBQ food. It was piping hot and tasty.

The vegetarian sandwiches are sooooo good! (We forgot to take photos before digging in)

We got the mushroom veggie (our favorite) and the sunshine veggie. Honestly, they were some of the best veggie sandwiches I’ve tried.

Non-vegetarians nearby seemed to be enjoying their dishes as well!

Definitely don’t miss this spot!!

Oh my goodness! This was the best BBQ EVER! I ordered ahead and got it to go. One item combo with ribs, mac cheese, potato salad (comes with cornbread) Usually by the time you get food home it has lost some of its appeal. This did NOT!! I did have to reheat ribs (air fryer, 3 min) and mac & cheese but it was perfect! Included was 2 sauces and they were both delicious but ribs were great plain. Mac & cheese was creamy and cooked to perfection. Potato salad is homemade and almost as good as mine! Cornbread did not crumble and was delish! HIGHLY recommend! They are located BEHIND the Elks Club

We were in town visiting from Orange County and definitely wanted to get some great barbecue and based on the reviews, we decided to visit the cook shack. Despite being a little tricky to find, it was well worth the effort. We had pulled pork burgers and brisket burgers, and they were fantastic. And the sides were amazing, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese. And the service was fantastic. One of the cofounders came out and made us feel extremely welcome and appreciative for our business. Would highly recommend people venture off the beaten path to dine at this fantastic restaurant!
