I had the opportunity to experience The Common House holiday menu that was a sort of “best hits” throughout the year. I didn’t know what to expect as it was my first time dining here, but it blew me out of the water! From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff was super welcoming and the setting was absolutely cozy.

As we went through each course, there were little surprises along the way that made the experience super fun. We didn’t do the wine pairing, but I’m sure that would have elevated the meal even more (I’m just not a wine person!). The highlights had to be the Yorkshire Pudding with mushrooms, and the raviolo with goat cheese and gourd. I could tell the level of detail and craftsmanship that went into each dish. I was beyond impressed by the entire meal and the hospitality of the chef and staff. Truly a unique experience and I would love to come back for another tasting menu!

I grew up in this area and have traveled all around the world eating at upscale restaurants and phenomenal holes in the wall. We now live in DC with an abundance of Michelin star and Michelin quality restaurants. This restaurant is by far one of the best we have experienced. We decided to try their tasting menu inspired by Appalachia. As a southerner who has eaten at a number of “upscale” southern restaurants in DC, this was such a refreshing take on southern and Appalachian cuisine inspired by the land I grew up on (venison, river trout, acorns, blackberries) with hints of inspiration from Europe and Asia, rather than an overpriced take on southern classics like Mac n cheese and cornbread. Everything was expertly curated, from the chef explaining each course to the owner stopping by to explain the inspiration and MO of the restaurant to the fermentation master giving personalized recommendations and going so far as to bring me a personalized note of his favorite parts of the playlist when he heard me comment that I really appreciated the music. I feel so appreciative that this place is bringing a Michelin quality take on the food I grew up with to the community I grew up in. This place isn’t just a restaurant, it is an experience. Excellent service. Excellent use of local farms and ingredients. Excellent vibes. Worth every penny. And if you’re looking for a good holiday gift for someone you love, a gift for a dinner her would be an excellent choice. A gem of an institution.

Tonight, I had the distinct pleasure to sample The Common House seasonal offering, Appalachian Experience. Their special River and Forest menus showcased the bounty of the land, utilizing simple wildflowers and berries then providing perfectly prepared venison, duck, trout, and acorn fed pork. Our party was absolutely enthralled by each course of the tasting.

I am eager to express my admiration for Adam’s gastronomic ingenuity, Luke and Landon’s wine and cocktail expertise, and Erica’s superb front of house management. The evening was truly extraordinary from beginning to end.

Chef Adam and Sommelier Luke spending time with our group tableside to explain their food concepts and share their passion was special and a wonderful surprise. Our party of four shared a few delectable bites, allowing us to taste both the River and Forest menus, and both were exceptional. The tasting experience was impressive overall, and yet mid course treats sparkled like brilliant gems, adding to the richness of the meal and experience.

Although the cost may be high, the outstanding food, service, and atmosphere made it a worthwhile investment, one I would gladly incur again. A hearty huzzah to everyone at the Common House who made our evening unforgettable.

We were visiting Anderson for a wedding this past weekend and had one night free for dinner and I’m so so glad we chose to dine at Common House. What a beautiful space, creative menu and incredible staff. The food was so creative. We met so many of the staff members, I can’t remember everyone’s names but I love when you can tell people enjoy their jobs. That’s how it felt. They were happy to have us and share their creations and we’re proud and passionate. Loved Luke (I believe) and his drink pairings with each course. The chef was so personable and Erica, one of our servers, was so fun to chat with. We loved the entire experience, thank you so much for having us!

Just, wow. I’m just waiting for the day they are recognized with a Michelin star (or two).

The Chefs Table Fine Dining experience was quite literally *chefs kiss.* When we made our reservation, we immediately got a personal call asking about us, our needs, what we’re celebrating, etc.

The atmosphere was moody and small, perfect for our 10 year anniversary. The 7 course meal was an explosion of flavor and the drink pairing by their sommelier was perfection. The chef came and sat down to talk to us before we started and checked in frequently. We got a hand written thank you note.

My mind is blown that this is in Anderson, SC.

Crawling out of my Yelp retirement to come give this crew 5 stars all around.

My husband and I found ourselves at Common House last night by chance after a day spent antiquing nearby. While we were made hopeful the food would be delicious based on their tasteful website, we were left speechless following the comprehensive experience that Adam has crafted here. This is the definition of a diamond in the rough, hole in the wall, hidden gem, etc. Even now, I feel I am divulging a magical secret. I’m sure many have traversed this unassuming street in Anderson, not realizing that this quaint corner of the universe is reaching for world-class.

The space itself transports you to another dimension. Illuminated by candlelight the interiors are timeless and memorable with dark rich woods, exposed brick, and stained glass. This Shire-meets-Monastery was a welcome reprieve from the harsh and challenging reality we all face day-to-day. Reportedly, the aesthetic changes frequently, and I am excited to revisit to see the other ways the staff outfit this place in the future.

I think if you come in for dinner expecting anything other than a James Beard or Michelin level chefs tasting menu, you may be disappointed. This is not an ordinary restaurant, and therefore, you will not get an ordinary experience here, either. It is simply extra-ordinary. They do have a beautiful but abbreviated a la carte menu that I hope they expand upon in the future. Undoubtedly, the tasting offering is the crown jewel.

Adam, Luke, Landon, and Erika (and the other incredible staff members we encountered, but did not learn the name of) have carved themselves out as a collective of genuine creatives bringing the people of the upstate a singular and unique cuisine firmly rooted in farm-to-table philosophy. They forage and harvest many ingredients from their own farm in Taccoa Georgia, in addition to sourcing from local farms. Adam also has woven in some of his Italian heritage, frequently offering handmade pastas cooked perfectly al dente. The sommelier Luke is also expert as his craft, and the cocktail menu he and Landon collaborated on was refreshing both literally and conceptually.

We entered as under-dressed stragglers off the street with no reservation and were embraced as old friends. There is just a ton of heart and artfulness to everything that this crew is doing. The fact that this establishment opened in 2022 and the owner/head chef Adam still comes out to introduce himself and speak with every table is remarkable. No detail is left unconsidered, and the entire experience start to finish feels undeniably bespoke.

We have been fortunate enough to have eaten all over the world, particularly my husband who travels internationally for work, and Commoners stands among the upper echelon. He remarked that not only was this easily the best restaurant in the upstate, but also one of the most memorable meals of his lifetime. They are pioneers in their league, and Anderson SC is incredibly lucky to have them.

We look forward to returning soon, and are pleased to attest that these Commoners… are anything but common.

We had the Appalachian experience tonight, and I can’t say enough good things about Adam’s food ingenuity, Luke’s wine and cocktail knowledge, and Landon and Erica’s front of house and overall experience management. I do hope I got everyone’s name right!! From our first moment to our last, it was an evening we will never forget. We had 4 in our party so we had an opportunity to taste both the River and Forest menus and both were outstanding. It’s not inexpensive but I would say between the food, service and atmosphere it was definitely worth every penny. We will definitely be back for brunch, coffee, the “regular” menu, and each seasonal experience. Can’t wait!

My wife and I had a lovely experience at The Common House for a date night! We made reservations the night before and enjoyed the Primavera tasting menu coupled with some cocktails. It was the perfect opportunity to try a variety of excellent dishes together. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We look forward to visiting again soon!

The Common house is a hidden gem in Anderson. The food is incredible. All of their food is sourced right from their farm or other local farms. We did the tasting menu (although you don’t have to) so we got to try a little bit of everything. You can tell the chefs put so much thought into each item on the menu from the ingredients to the way it’s prepared/served. The staff is amazing. Something that stuck out to me was how much care they put into each table they were serving. It is definitely more high end/fine dining. Common house is more than just dinner, it’s an experience.

This restaurant is fantastic! I’m talking James Beard stuff here people. We were in Anderson for a quick weekend getaway and ended up here both nights. The staff here are consummate professionals (Emma Lane, Becca, Luke and the team) and the dining is curated, thoughtful, palate satisfying , and stunningly delicious. We ended up doing the tasting menu, I highly suggest it. Nice smaller portions to be able to taste the whole menu almost. Luke the bartender made us a cocktail tasting menu to go with it, pairing perfectly. Make sure to ask for this if you enjoy cocktails. 12/10 chef kiss.
