First time ever being to COD father, went with a friend who’s been there before. First off when you get there, there is a line about 15-20 deep prior to even opening! That should tell you something. We got in, ordered 2 fish and chips baskets, and drinks. I believe we were order 17. It took maybe 15 mins for the server to bring to us, which as busy as they were was fast! When we made it through the door, I looked out the window, and the line was still long outside!
There is lots of first responder memorabilia hanging up and on display which was historical, and nice to see!
The cos was delicious! The fries were great as well. 100% recommend! Only complaint, with all the people not enough seating HOWEVER it is a smaller building so understandable.

See Nick at the bar for a solid pour and good conversation. The star of the show is the fish and chips -you will not find better this side of the pond. Crispy on outside and perfectly cooked. The cod is fresh caught not farm raised. I forgot to take a pic cause it smelled so good. We will be back ! Thanks CODfather!

My wife and I were visiting Charleston and decided to do a little research to find a nice spot for lunch. She came across this charming place in North Charleston, and we decided to take a little detour just to try out the Cod Father. I’m really glad we did because the food was fantastic! I definitely recommend giving it a try the next time you’re craving some delicious fish.

Good atmosphere, if you’re looking for a super casual fried fish joint. Food was the major disappointment. I was mostly looking forward to the “chips”. Good French Fries are hard to find, and the expectations were high for a place that only does fried fish and potatoes. The fries were limp and soggy, apparently cooked well ahead of service and probably kept in a steam tray. They could just as well have been steamed potatoes. Major disappointment. The fried cod had a good crust on top, but it too had been stored in a pan of some sort so the crust on the bottom was soaked and soggy. This was not an isolated error, there were four in our party and there was not a crisp chip at the table. Not all of the fish had soaked, soggy bottoms, so only some came from the bottom of the tray. Could be great, but absolutely no quality standards on the very limited menu. Over a hundred dollars including a tip (given in advance), for a mediocre meal.

I can’t believe it took me this long to try the Codfather! I ordered the fish and chips and honestly, these were hands down the best I’ve ever had(excluding the UK). The batter was perfectly crispy and light, not greasy at all, and the fish inside was so fresh and flaky. The chips were golden and seasoned just right too.
The whole experience was great – friendly staff, reasonable prices, and the food came out hot and fresh. If you’re on the fence about trying this place, just go. You won’t regret it.

As an Englishman, fish and chips is a rather important meal. Obviously i’m well aware that the standards back home will be difficult to replicate however the ‘hand cut’ chips, the batter for the cod, along with the size of the cod were all decent enough and, dare I say it, as good as you’ll get over here.

I heard this was the best place for fish and chips so I drove two hours and was not disappointed! Dame took care of me as soon as I walked in. It wasn’t busy and my food came out right away. This was the best cod I had!! The fish was huge, light and crunchy!! I also tried the seafood pie!!! Chef’s kiss! I definitely want to come back here and try some of the other things that they offer
