Social Profile:

The Club Car bar is housed in the last remaining railroad car on the island, a relic from the now-defunct Nantucket Railroad Company. The “iron horse” used to whisk islanders along the waterfront to the nearby fishing village of ‘Sconset. Over time all that remained was a single carriage, fittingly converted into a restaurant. From its humble diner beginnings, The Club Car has always been a warm and welcoming space known for its amicable atmosphere, enticing fare, cocktails and beverages. The piano, a later addition, contributes to its lively ambiance and intimacy. The Club Car welcomes you to enjoy a fresh and innovative menu and our warm and friendly bar.

California-inspired fare in a restaurant attached to a retrofitted railway car that’s a lively bar.

Easily the best meal of our honeymoon. We stopped here for late lunch one afternoon and had one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I dream about their mussels and bread. The service was impeccable and our waiter made our dining experience even better, he even made us complimentary cocktails as we don’t drink and it just made the day. The atmosphere is great, a little hint of vintage 1920s cocktail art deco vibe. You must eat here. It’s fabulous.

Club car is an experience that everyone should have when visiting Nantucket.
Its a Restaurant with a train cabin car attached to it , set up as a Bar .
The Bar is very popular at night for late night cocktails and live music , although its Raucous and hard to get near the musician but the sing along is fun .
The food we ordered was ok .
The Scallops were the best meal of 6 that we ordered.
The Waitress was just amazing , very pleasant , informative and helpful.

We had hoped to have dinner at another Nantucket restaurant in town this evening but the walk-in tables were already taken when we arrived. We thought that we would give The Club Car another try as we had a not so good dinner there years ago and hoped that they might have improved the quality of their food. We ordered chowder and 2 appetizers to share. The corn and lobster chowder was good but the salad was soggy and had no flavor and the crab cake we shared tasted old and was inedible. Two appetizers, two cups of chowder and 2 glasses of sparkling wine was $160 before the tip. So much for dinner ever again at The Club Car. On another note, our server was polite and attentive.

What an absolute disappointment. Half empty restaurant, and the service and food was awful. The soup starter and bread was very good. But the filet, which I heard was a standout, came out twice overcooked and with a crust that tasted like burnt char. Our waitress failed to notify a manager, leading me to have to go up to the host stand to ask about where the recooked meal was, as my wife was almost done with hers. The waitress failed to come back and refill waters or apologize for the kitchen’s mistake. The manager comped the one bad steak, but frankly, should have comped the meal. It was anything but a good experience. They did offer dessert, which we declined. We ate at a host of tremendous restaurants during our week on the island, and this was the only bad one.

Interesting stop just for a drink. Very overpriced, as is just about everything on the island. Enjoyable but would probably skip it next time.

Wasn’t able to get a reservation on line (sold out) but they were able accommodate us at the bar. Great service and drinks. Food a little underwhelming given the reputation and the price. Not bad, mind you, just average. Kind of like the chef has lost interest in dazzling…. Cool atmosphere.

Fell in love with this place, both the atmosphere and the menu, upon a recent visit for Sunday brunch. The waitress was kind enough to guide me through the cocktails menu, which included some drinks that weren’t gluten free, and let me know the entire menu (!) was gluten free – they can sub out gluten free bread in any of the toasts. I had the shakshuka with 2 pieces of what tasted like homemade gf toast and a painkiller and was blown away by both. Definitely going back.

Good place, but look at your bill. Attractive nautical themed decor with green velour backed booths, although the chairs seem out of place. We ordered some appetizers and drinks, and were appreciative when a bread basket was brought to the table…. yummy rolls. However, we were charged $9 ($3 per roll), and I felt uncomfortable about it
Why bother with that kind of petty business practice?

Excellent breakfast! Frittata and Johnny cakes. Best hash browns ever. Stopped here after Black Eyed Susan Cafe refused to seat us because of my service dog.
