We stumbled on this place while in WV for a work meeting. Had great reviews and we decided why not?! It was definitely a more Ruth Chris type of vibe. We felt a little under dressed. Our server was amazing. She was friendly. We quickly told her we were new to the place and she had great recommendations. Only thing I wish was that they had more fresh options. Most of them were fried. But the food was tasty. And the view was great! The vibe was low key and quiet.

Passing through & I had a wonderful dinning experience here! Susan was amazing!! I loved the old school steak house feel, the bar was very cozy, and you could see deer out of the large windows. My filet was so tender and delicious. Priced perfectly, 52 dollars for a 6oz filet, a side, a salad, bread and drink. So glad I stopped in. Chefs kiss

Wish I could give zero service was terrible waitress was flirting with my husband who was oblivious. I took that as a compliment however we were there for two hours before the lettuce was served. I can’t call it a salad because it was just lettuce with their so called ranch that tasted like fluffy milk with no seasoning. We both ordered the rib eye and split a shrimp cocktail. We dined with another couple who also had a shrimp cocktail and another appetizer. When our main courses came my steak was acceptable but not for the price. Steak is my favorite food and at a “fancy” restaurant I expected perfection I have had better steak from a food truck. My friend ordered the chicken parm and I am positive it was a frozen chicken patty. She couldn’t eat it said it tasted off. Finally after 3 hours we got the check which was wrong they had charged us for 2 of the shrimp cocktails the waitress took it back to fix it and returned with the check only to discover she had swapped out the shrimp and added the other couples other appetizer to our bill. Whatever we were done by that point we paid and left. My first and last time at this restaurant. The prices were listed as market price. Which apparently is $69 for 1- 16oz rib eye meal !!! I am not cheap at all I would have paid $40 or even $50 gladly had the food actually been seasoned. So two appetizers two steak meals 1 water and one coke came out to $220 for two people to waste 3 hours and not enjoy a crappy dinner just ridiculous.

We were in town from Augusta GA skiing at Winterplace. We were looking for a decent steak and the Char did not disappoint. There were five of us. Four ordered the filets and one the ribeye. All the steaks were cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The sides were great (Brussels, stuffed potato, etc) and decent portion sizes. Two of us opted for desserts and got bread pudding and tiramisu, both of which were delicious. The wine service was excellent and the atmosphere was elegant without being stuffy. It was a great find that I’m happy to recommend.

Awsome food! Fabulous service! Great atmosphere. We took my aunt here for her 90th birthday. I had steak marsala which came with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. The wine sauce was delicious. My wife had the swordfish special. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. I can’t say enough about our server, who was awesome.
Expect the best and plan to spend a little money.

We had an excellent meal at The Char. The food and service were top tier. It is a lovely restaurant with a nice view of the pond and fountain outside. Some of the items we had at our table: crab stuffed sole, apple bacon pork chop, filet mignon, shrimp scampi, Brussels sprouts, creamed spinach. Every single thing was delicious. I would highly recommend dining here if you are in the area.

Wonderful night, excellent food. No dessert, our choices were sold out due to an extremely large party wiping them out

Really good food, almost five star. It’s just that my wife is an amazing cook, and she has a better recipe for some of these dishes. A little pricey, but I expect it since running a restaurant today is very difficult. The ribeye steak was delicious but only a little better than Texas Roadhouse. (Maybe that tells you something about my lack of expertise in judging steaks, I don’t know). Service was great. House salad and dressing was wonderful. Portions were modest.

The only problem that I had was that the tables were a little to close to each other. I walk with a cane, so the tables were a little close. The restaurant itself; amazing food and amazing staff. The price of everything mirrored the quality, staff and overall atmosphere of the place. I will definitely go there again.

We were looking forward to a nice dinner and my filet was a disappointment. Asking for it to be cooked medium, it came out more than done, not any pink whatsoever. The replacement was only slightly better.
My husband enjoyed his salmon and the vegetables were nicely seasoned. The cherry bread pudding was also lackluster.
The waitress did all she could to make it better by discounting the meal and not charging for the dessert.
The atmosphere is pleasant, my only suggestion is to not order a steak.
