My wife and I attended an event at the Venue catered by Candied Yam, and I can’t say enough good things about the whole way the evening was handled. I want to especially call attention to the fantastic food. The fried chicken was crispy and crunchy on the outside and flavorful and moist on the inside. The sweet potatoes were sweet and buttery and smooth to the taste. The mac and cheese had a cheese blend that gave it a soft creamy interior with a browned, crispy top that gave it a satisfying crunch. Everything served was delicious; I wish I could give more stars. Do yourself a favor and go check out the Candied Yam. My wife and I will be sure to make this a regular restaurant for us…. And be sure to order the sweet tea.

My food came out cold and when I told the staff he said we don’t give refunds. I explained that I didn’t want one I just want it hot. He took it to the back and brought back the same cold food. Now I have cold cat fish. It looks good but it’s cold. Taste was good but it was just cold. Wasn’t expecting that because I at least thought the fish would be hot. Mac and cheese was gummy. The place was nice though.

We went to the division location. We really enjoyed our food. They let us know when we arrived that the Mac and cheese was currently in the oven so it would be a few extra minutes if we wanted that. Everything we ate was so good. You’d be sleeping on this place if you don’t come here. The food is fabulous. Highly recommend the catfish, yams, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes w/gravy, and chicken. Staff here were very friendly.

First time trying this place. I ordered from too good to go. Highly recommend when trying new places since you dont choose food and its a surprise. Anyway great service good food. Only downside is for me there was too much salt in the beans and potatoes like an insane amount but could have just been today and not a regular thing. Corn and pork were really good. Definitely going again to try the yams and bread. Also so much parking which is a huge plus since alot of small restaurants here can lack in that area.

It was my first time at this restaurant. Finally a restaurant that serves down home cooking. I had the collard greens and baked chicken both were amazing specially the chicken, super moist and season to protection. Never had collard greens before, must say they are quiet tasty. The Mac and cheese was okay, I will blame that on being it was half an hour before closing. Bet it would have been great earlier in the day. I definitely will be back. I could tell it was 100% home-made. Plus the guys that waited on me were very nice and helpful. Thank you!

My wife and two close friends and I dined at the Candied Yam recently and was blown away by this amazing restaurant! We were visiting from Georgia so we know what real southern dishes ought to look and taste like. Where do I start? My ribs and everyone else’s entrees were fabulous. The portions were more than generous. The service was attentive. And the prices were refreshingly reasonable. We love this place!
We won’t be back to GR until next year but we look forward to returning to The Candied Yam. Do yourself a favor and drop in. You’d better be hungry!

Absolutely delicious! We stopped in on a Tuesday for dinner and were greeted with great service. We got the catfish, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, and mac and it was all amazing! I haven’t found anything so close to family cooking in a restaurant before. We both left clean plates. Will definitely be returning!

This is a cute little spot. Very clean. We tried to order a couple different things. But they were out of…i.e. meatloaf & ribs. It took quite a while for our food. But once we got it it was hot & fresh. Plenty of options on the menu. Jus make sure they have it. No fountain drinks. Jus can drinks or house made lemonade. And by the way….the jumbo wings are not jumbo at all. Just regular size. And we only got one wing. But I do recommend this spot. The girl who took our order was very soft spoken and really sweet. Give them a try because the food we did receive was pretty tasty.

My husband and I had such a great experience here! The building looks great, the staff were friendly, and the food was amazing! They had some of the best mashed potatoes, BBQ chicken, corn, and buttered cabbage. We will definitely be back again and let our friends know what a great spot this is to eat at!
