Service and atmosphere are good, and if you’re just coming in for drinks – ignore this review and do go! BUT if it’s food you’re after – almost every dish, except for the dhrikoo, was mediocre to simply not edible. And I’m not setting the bar at restaurant level or the prices they ask – even if this was $10 street food, I wouldn’t return. And I do like fried food, St Louis style etc etc. But they just don’t know how to make decent food.
Their signature fried chicken – OK crispy crust, but bland and tasteless on the inside. The ribs – don’t “fall off the bone” even if you pry them off. In fact we had to return them because they were so chewy. The sides like potatoes or asparagus – sticky and heavy. Fried tomatoes – way too much crust can barely taste the tomatoes. And the list goes on. I didn’t even bother tasting the dessert beighnets so can’t comment on it. Sometimes when there’s a one off dish I chalk it off as a fluke and give the place another shot. But here everything tastes bad (cocktail was good, though) – save your money and go elsewhere

Tasty enough food and drinks, but a bit pricey for what it is. Surprise 4% surcharge a deal breaker for 5*’s. Hurricane was good but a fair bit of ice. Fried chicken was fine, but nothing stood out from KFC. Gumbo my wife got was good.
I now recall why we visit infrequently.

We absolutely loved our meal at The Bywater. We had high hopes and were still blown away by everything. Our favorite was definitely the shrimp po boy, but the hush puppies and gumbo were both delicious as well.
Will for sure be back!

Met up with family while i was in the area. They love this place. I’m glad they told me about this place. Will definitely be coming back. Had the hush puppies as an app. The fried oyster Po boy sandwich was delicious. Also had a couple of cocktails. Service was great.

Great place. Love the Po’ Boys and the Shrimp Remoulade. Wine is a bit pricey. The cheapest glass of white was $20 last time I was here!

Had a fun dinner with friends. The food and the beer were great. The duck breast was well made, very tasty and savory.

As someone who truly loves gumbo, I can honestly say this is the worst gumbo I’ve ever had. The broth was as thin as water, completely lacking the proper thickness and flavor. I ordered two portions, and one of them even had a bitter taste. When I mentioned it to the server, they insisted that “this is how gumbo is supposed to taste.”
If you enjoy paying money for bad food, this is the place for you.

The Bywater in Los Gatos is a must for New Orleans style food lovers! We had a slow cooked, melt in your mouth short rib with corn and crispy fried onions. It was absolutely delicious. It started with a dozen fresh oysters (three varieties, all incredible) and a cold Louisiana Amber beer to wash it down. Finished with heavenly beignets… HEAVENLYYYY light, fluffy, and even better with the chocolate sauce on the side.
Our server, Mo G, was outstanding!!! She is friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. We’d come back just for her.

Came here for a weekend lunch. Had high hope for the quality of food due to pretty good rating on google map. We were so disappointed with the fried chicken and waffle. Chicken was dry and the waffle is tasteless. Scone is alright but not that tasty. Pull pork – hm… has it better somewhere else….. anyhow, they have a full bar there, maybe it’s good to drink here instead, and order some food along with it.

New Orleans inspired cuisine. Cozy neighborhood establishment. Enjoyed the gumbo and hush puppies. Fried chicken was good, although the accompanying mac n cheese was actually macaroni salad. Beignets will definitely satisfy any sweet tooth . Staff were friendly and helpful.
