Food was good. Staff very friendly. Chicken wings not good, buffalo sauce was very thick, strange, flavor, nobody in our party liked it and we generally love wings. Chicken sandwiches and fried fish sandwich were great. Also meatballs were amazing!

We’ve been here twice for food. Each time our servers have been friendly, attentive and prompt – Bri especially! Our food came out cooked perfectly (I always offer my burgers medium rare and I anticipate it coming overcooked due to experience). We came on a busy Friday night when one server (Joe) took care of the entire dining section and the service was still perfect. The atmosphere is pub-like mixed with an upscale casual feel. 10/10 recommend.

A Pint of History at The Burn

Good Morning Gloucester’s one and only Joey Ciaramitaro tuned me up proper tonight. Fueled by a real lust for experience, I wandered into the brand-new Burn restaurant after a long day filming food. We didn’t go full entrée—just grazed around the apps, and that was more than enough to stir something deep.

The Mediterranean salad was crisp and bright, the buffalo dip had a kick that lingered, and the three meatballs—insane, topped with fresh ricotta—were so spot-on I found myself scratching my head in disbelief. Then came the shrimp, seared in a delicate but smoking-hot pan, kissed with flavor. But the dish that truly got me? The shrimp crostini. I wanted more bread just to soak up that divine liquid it was bathing in. That sauce deserved a second act.

But it wasn’t just the food that had me leaning in at the bar. It was the history. The kind that fills the mind’s eye and makes the walls whisper. Captain Howard Blackburn—now there’s a Gloucester salt if ever there was one. Survived wicked New England storms, lost all his fingers and some toes, and still went on to sail across the Atlantic using celestial navigation. You’ve got to watch the documentary on him on YouTube. It’s not just inspiring—it’s humbling.

The Burn isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a time capsule. Signs still linger on the walls, the floors creak with stories, and you can almost hear the echoes of far-flung expeditions being dreamed up—Alaska gold chases, European crossings, and the daily grind of America’s oldest seaport. If walls could speak, they’d sing sea shanties and whisper secrets of the deep.

So if you’re a history buff, a food lover, or just someone chasing the spirit of Gloucester, show up for a pint. I hear the beer’s ice cold—and the stories are even colder.

The Burn is in the old Halibut Point location. Bar area has a good feel. Seating for a dozen and 2 televisions at the bar itself. Also has table seating. Pub fare with a diverse menu. Good drinks and friendly staff. Worth a visit while in Gloucester…

My girlfriend and I stopped by the burn last night and it was absolutely lovely. Brianna, our server, was very nice as was the rest of the staff. We had the chicken pot pie, loaded nachos, clam chowder and cheesecake, and each plate was EXACTLY what I needed. Hearty, wholesome and filling!

We always love heading out on our weekends for good food. We picked Burn because it was a 4.7. The pics looked good. We were looking forward to a nice lunch. It was quiet. Cute place. Bartender was attentive and gave good service. The food was opposite of what we were expecting. The clam chowder was definitely not from scratch. Fail one. Especially in a place like Gloucester. The shrimp is popular on Google reviews. Shrimp were good but easily forgettable as it was served w stale slices of old baguette that were dried out and chewy like day old bread. Fail 2. My companion and I split a reuben(my favorite go to) it had a very small amount of meat then put in a panini press which made the bread too hard and there was no saurkraut on it as specified on the menu. Now memorable as the second worst reuben i have eaten. The best thing we ate were the fries which is not a level we were expecting from a 4.7. From the reviews on the great food this is obviously not the norm for this establishment. As a professional Chef I rarely leave reviews but management needs to have a closer look here.

Outstanding! We started with the new england clam chowder, so creamy and delicious! Must be a 1/2 stick of butter in it! My girlfriend had the baked haddock and I had fried haddock sandwich with sweet potato fries. So light and crispy. Fish is so fresh!! We will be back! Our waitress was wonderful!

Music is really loud for such a small place. People are loud as they are trying to speak over the music. Food tasted fine and came out hot.
