I did not order food, place had a great atmosphere, clean, staff was friendly. Bloody Mary’s were really good. Will look forward to eating here next time. Shullsberg has a small quaint downtown.

Kim was an excellent and friendly server who greeted and seated us promptly.
We ordered the Water Street Combo Platter which includes chicken strips, fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings served with a variety of dipping sauces.
The excellent appetizer really got our hopes up, but we were disappointed with the rest of the meal.
We were feeling a little adventurous and both ordered something out of our wheelhouse because we wanted to try something new.
I ordered the Rachel SW (Reuben w/Turkey) topped with swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing served on toasted marble rye.
Matt ordered the open face Turkey served over a slice of sourdough bread topped with mashed potatoes and gravy.
The open face sandwich was listed under the heading that states ‘served with your choice of French fries, sweet potato fries, parmesan garlic fries, house-made chips, or a cup of soup. ‘
I questioned if it was really correct and when we asked our server, Kim to be sure – she said it was the second time today she was asked. Even though that particular sandwich doesn’t come with the fries she added them to the order with no extra charge.
Neither of us had ever had the items we ordered before however – we have had all the components of the meals. For example – we each had turkey – our turkey was really tasteless and kind of odd flavored, something seemed off. I have had sauerkraut countless times before – this kraut was just not zingy in flavor. Matt said the same about his mashed potatoes and gravy.
If we would have stopped with appetizer, we probably would have given it five stars.
We ordered more than we knew we could finish hoping to bring leftover with us to our vacation rental for a second meal.
We would like to say we simply ordered the wrong thing but a bad taste, is a bad taste. We did not lodge a complaint with our server because business was starting to really ramp up and we didn’t want to ruin her evening.
This was definitely a mixed bag experience for us, but it was bad enough overall that if we found ourselves in the area again, we would probably go out of our way to find a different place for dinner rather than try again.

Just had the buffalo wings and the smoked brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries. Wings were solid 9.6 out of 10 minimum, brisket sandwich was huge and loaded with meat. If I had to br critical maybe add a touch more bbq but that’s really being picky. Highly recommend. Wife said fries were damn good as well.

We arrived at 1:20 on a Sunday afternoon. The server said she was the only server on duty and apologized for being a bit slow – but she was doing a good job and really hustling! What she should have told us (and told us after we ate and paid) was that the kitchen was overwhelmed and there would be quite a wait for our food. It took an hour. Our appetizers came out with the rest of the meal, not ahead of it as they should. The food was good, the place is rustic and the town is adorable. Had we known we’d have to wait an hour for food, we would have continued driving.

The draft Spotted Cow Ale is fantastic! I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this pub while the Packers played on the huge TV’s. An updated pub/tavern on Schullsburg’s main strip. Worth the stop!

Stopped in for lunch while in town for a meeting at the Creamery. Jeff was incredibly welcoming and his Smokestack recommendation hit the spot. Highly recommend.
