If I could give this place a million stars I would. My favorite east coast meal (this trip) several times over. The location, so adorable and romantic. The interior is split into several sections, all impeccably decorated. The wine library was very romantic. The pub was a great place to take my mom. The tequila old fashioned is my new favorite drink on the planet and don’t get me started on the wine list. The menu changes constantly, is super fresh, and you can’t go wrong with whatever you pick. Highlights were the roasted chicken, the cod cheeks, and the BURGER. Pics for cinematic effect. This is my favorite Connecticut restaurant hands down. Do yourself a favor and GO! This place should not be overlooked.

Shelby, our waitress was so wonderful and such a delight. She really was the cherry on top of a fantastic evening. The wine selection was fantastic because they had very approachable selections as well as high end choices as well. The drinks were nice as well and well balanced. The FOOD is so well thought out. Each dish had a little something special you wouldn’t find anywhere else. We enjoyed the chickpea panisse, beef carpaccio, the mixed green salad, a dish with kimchi, the cheesecake, as well a “chocolate bar” we had the Bella Union Cabernet, and the Quilt cabernet as well and a martini. It was an exceptional evening.

We just had an absolutely scrumptious dinner…the chef is amazing and knows how to blend flavors to perfection. We were all members of the clean plate club tonight. The service was so friendly and competent, nice atmosphere. If you haven’t checked it out yet…go ahead, you won’t be disappointed.

My wife and I visited for the first time this evening and were thoroughly impressed. The grounds and building were beautifully restored, and the history of the mill that once occupied the site was captured and presented in a modern, yet tasteful way. The food was creatively imagined by an obviously talented and confident culinary team. The staff was happy, accommodating, and proud to showcase their new space and menu. We met Jason, the proprietor, who treated us like guests in his own home, frequently checking on us to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. We appreciated the experience and look forward to returning very soon.

Get set for an amazing dining experience. Our (my wife, myself and another couple) third time there in four months and last night’s dinner was great. The Manager, Aaron, is sometimes also the Host and his energy is infectious as is his sense of humor. His stewardship of the staff is first class for sure. Our waitress, Shelby, is friendly, courteous and attentive without hovering…just making sure all was going well for the four of us. Last night’s menu included two new items…WOW. The Cod Tar Tare was unique in spices and presentation and excellent and the Pink Crusted Calamari brings a new level of interest to Calamari in both taste and presentation. The old mill has been beautifully restored so you feel you are actually in the Mill as it was in its days of operation. Plenty of space between tables to accommodate those of us who don’t like the ‘crowded’ feeling. And last but not least: I am a huge fan of Bloody Marys and extremely picky about their composition. The Bloody Mary last night fit my taste to the max…good level of spicy and excellent preservation of real tomato (reminiscent of Snappy Tom’s) with a proper twist of lemon accompanied by a really fine green olive. Try Brushmill once and you will join the four of us going time and time again for a great fun evening. Julian Bills

Brushmill by the Waterfall has an absolutely stunning location! I already want to go back and dine there in the warmer weather. I really appreciate the attention to detail and the efforts by the owner to keep elements of the original brush mill factory intact. We sat at the bar of the tavern watching the restaurant’s bar manager make drinks, and I was so glad to see a large and creative mocktail list. The food was good, but especially for ordering from the tavern menu and not the fine dining menu, we were surprised at the prices.

My husband and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary at Brushmill by the Waterfall, and it was quite the special dining experience! Not only were we greeted by the owners and a personalized card by the staff, we were seated in the cozy tavern with a beautiful view of the waterfall. Our waitress, I wish I remembered her name, was so nice and paid attention to check in with us to make sure we enjoyed our drinks and our meal. The cocktail and wine selection was great, and both of us loved our drinks! We started with the pork belly salad which was delicious, and my husband got the steak, and I got the duck. Both my husband and I are usually pretty reluctant to share our dishes, but each of us insisted on giving each other a bite to convince our dishes were better than the others! Both meats were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! Everyone at Brushmill by the Waterfall went above and beyond to make it a memorable dinner for us, and we already can’t wait to go back with friends and family!

If you’re looking into a fine dining experience that feels worth it and then some, I definitely recommend this to anyone who is in the area and honestly, reason enough to visit Connecticut if you’re not. Will go out of my way to come again in the future.
