If you’re looking for rich, creamy, and delicious ice cream, this is the place to be. I’ve tried many ice cream shops around Chicago, and this one is by far the best. They offer plenty of flavors to choose from, and every scoop is a treat. Truly love this spot!

Customer service was excellent this place is a cozy place with indoor and outdoor seating.
They do private parties and are special for the holiday.
You can book a day to come in and have a waffle breakfast with the family such as on Father’s day, or mother’s Day.
Spacious place with decent reasonable prices.
Everything is delicious!
Forest Park is kid friendly and VERY LGBTQ friendly.
Make it a day to explore and adventure to surrounding neighborhoods like Oak Park where there’s so much more to see and do!

After dinner, we walked down Madison Street and happened upon the Brown Cow. The ice cream parlor is in an old theater (known as the ‘Lil Theatre) you can see the footprint of the ticket booth in front of the entrance and the projector room windows in the main room. There is a large room in the back for parties and events. The star, of course, is the handmade ice cream. We had the Salted Carmel Spanish Peanut single scoop and the Banana Cream Pie single scoop (my favorite of the two). I also must mention the staff who were friendly and accommodating. We added a chocolate chip cookie, which was amazing! You can tell they baked these themselves today!

Despite the cold weather today, we stopped into the brown cow for some ice cream. It was our first time coming here as we just moved into forest park and we were not disappointed. The ice cream was delicious and we found out that it is made right there in house! Definitely has that small batch flavor and quality! We also learned that they make cake from scratch too! As there were samples of the chocolate cake which was so good I’d say it’s better than portillos! The building is so charming with all of the neat old fashion decor and it turns out it used to be a theatre way back when. Definitely makes you feel like you went back in time. My son got to watch one of the employees make fresh waffle cones and she even gave him a fresh one to try! Today we had a delightful experience at the Brown Cow and we will certainly be back. Highly recommend for the whole family.

Went here last month. Everything was so good! This was our first time here. We ordered a little of everything to get a feel for the menu. Absolutely no complaints! We tried the apple pie, the key lime pie, the turtle sundae, the strawberry fields sundae, an ice cream sandwich, an ice cream cone, and a root beer float. I love the feel of the place. It almost reminds me of the old ice cream shop that used to be downstairs in the Museum of Science and Industry. They even have an area to host parties!

The ice cream here is so good!! We were recommended the place by locals, everyone loves it here. The staff were so friendly too, they told me their personal favorites and let me taste some flavors before I picked my favorite. There’s a lot more seating in the back too, it was like a cute little party room. We come here every time we’re in the area!

Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor in Forest Park offers a family-friendly atmosphere with a variety of ice cream options that kids will love. The staff is welcoming, and the waffle cones are a highlight. It’s also a great spot for birthday parties and group celebrations. While prices are a bit higher and summer lines can be long, the quality and experience make it a worthwhile visit for families in the area.

Line was out the door when I went, they had no AC inside.
And their prices are insane for ice cream, I don’t care if they made it at their store so does peterson’s and it’s cheaper, this ice cream was made for the upper middle class and it shows. If you’re comfortable paying $27.11 for ice cream that tastes old, our order (2 waffle cones, 2 scoops, cherries on hers with sprinkles, sprinkles for just mine)
$4 for some sprinkles and cherries. Be my guest
