The food was excellent. From the flight of crab-salmon-lobster cakes to the lamb pops and main dishes. We had the duck and a shrimp dish – both delicious. The pumpkin bread pudding for dessert was very good. Excellent wine selection, as you’d expect.
The bar *might* have a good new selection of spooky drinks soon. For…reasons.
Went to Brentwood with a party of 8 on Thanksgiving Day and I’ll save the “best” for last.
We were seated outside the main house in a room called the Pavilion. As we were walking to the room the hostess said it’s a covered area with heat. The Pavilion had 4 portable gas heaters but none of them were working because all the heaters were out of propane.
After being being seated it took about 30 mins for the waitress to take our drink orders and another 20 minutes to come back with our drinks. The soda was flat and 2 of the drinks came back wrong but the people didn’t send them back fearing it will take a long time before they return with the correct drink.
Someone else at our table asked 3 times for a cup of ice and never got it.
Waitress then said now that we have our beverages she’ll bring out the salad. It took about 15 minutes for her to return with the salads. The salads were small and had very little to no dressing at all. Someone asked for salt and pepper the waitress said she has to see if she can find shakers that aren’t being used. All the shakers must have been being used because we never got any salt & pepper.
NOW HERES THE BEST PART!!
About 25 minutes after getting our salads,
a window in a wooden frame weighing about 35 pounds, fell out of the track, off the wall and HIT one of our friends in the head and neck. Nonetheless to say he was very shaken and hurt. The staff came right over and the owner followed several minutes later.
The owner apologized, comped the meal and then said move the table away from the wall incase anymore windows fall out. WFT !! Really!!
At this point they rushed out our food but it was too late and we had enough. We packed all the food up in to go containers, tipped the waitress and went home to eat.
So on top of all that the food wasn’t good, the turkey & ham tasted like they bought cold cuts from Publix, vegetables came from the frozen food section and the stuffing (dressing in the south) might as well have been Stovetop.
As much as I like to support local businesses my advice is to stay away from this restaurant and give your support do a different local business that can use your help.
One final note I don’t want to hear this happened because the restaurant is haunted.
This window falling on our friends head was in a room outside the main house.
When we got seated, we noticed two people in the doorway looking up at the ceiling above our heads so of course we both looked above our heads. There was water damage above my head. Hmmm, what’s that all about??? During dinner, I guess because of the water damage, the crown moulding fell, if the curtain rod did not stop the piece of molding from falling, it would have hit me square in the head!
What did they do, apologize…No,offer to move my seat? NO, absolutely not! They laughed, thought it was funny because they have some stupid reputation as being haunted!! Well it was not funny at all! As an entire dining room was still sitting there eating dinner they decided to nail that piece of wet crown molding back into place! I got up as the Other tables were looking at us in horror.
As we waited at the front to pay our bill (because we felt unsafe in the dining room) one of the employees at the podium continued to joke about the incident. We failed to find the humor and told him so.
We will NEVER eat at this place again
1 terrible customer service…Nobody apologized for anything and actually thought it was funny and joked about it
2 almost being struck in the head while eating dinner
3 the food was sub par at best!
The service was amazing and the stories of the local ghosts that occupy the home was very cool.
The food was delicious offering fare not normally found on here. I had the escargot which was delicious in their buttery sauce, next was the duck served with an orange sause so tasty I could have wiped the plate clean. The Mrs had the French onion soup followed by the pork shoulder. Both portions were more than we could eat in one setting. She both had the cheese cake which was the closest to Brooklyn’s Jr. Cheese cake I’ve found here. Their is a very extensive wine list for you as well. We will be back with friends and may even take the ghost your. Put The Brentwoof on your list you won’t be disappointed.
