One of the best restaurants I have been to in Crystal lake and in the area so far. We were immediately seated with no wait. Our server, Blake, was very polite, friendly, and professional. He was very attentive to the table and even had recommendations for drinks and food that did not disappoint. Everything we got was good and the portions are very generous. Well seasoned and tasty. You could definitely buy one meal and share between multiple people. Atmosphere is also really neat makes you feel like you are at the beach or at a tiki bar. Cannot recommend enough. We will definitely be back again! Give it a try you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve come here since I was 6, and it’s always been an awesome place I’ve loved. Even though I live a thousand miles away and work at a tiki bar professionally I never miss going to The Breakers when I’m back home. It’s not gourmet and it dosnt have any Michelin stars but it’s such a special place that’s survived decades because it’s so great. It’s too often I wish I was siting at the padded red bar enjoying the mai tai with some beef fried rice.

Came here after driving by multiple times. Heads up, if you come on Thursdays, it’s karaoke night. It took a bit to get seated as it was busy, but even after, service was slow at best. I ordered the Mongolian beef. There wasn’t a HINT of seasoning in the entire dish. No garlic, no black pepper, no red chili peppers, literally nothing. Not too mention, there must have been two large onions in this dish in total, just onion everywhere. Then, they give you barely a cereal dish full of rice. I’ve tried it once, that was enough. There’s plenty of better chinese in the area.

Food is the same as its been forever, so that’s what we’re used to. I understand people don’t think there’s a lot of flavor but its good. However, we miss the Hawaiian shirts. When we were there on Friday there was a server that was wearing shorts, a baggy t-shirt and gym shoes….we thought he was a customer. The girls are wearing jeans and shirts, not even a logo shirt. Just needs to be uniform or professional for the reputation.

Let me just start by saying that I’ve been coming here for almost 30 years. I’ve never had bad service, food or drinks. Tonight, though, the food was the best it’s ever been. As I said, it’s never been bad, but tonight was next level. I had Chef Don’s special steak, like always, but it was outstanding. Egg rolls and crab rangoon were excellent as always.

All of the appetizers and all of the meals were flavorless. This food was not cooked by a Chinese person. Chens, Lily Garden, China Bistro and even Panda Express are way better. My family and I were very disappointed.

Great food and service. They will make most anything on the menu into a vegan or vegetarian dish by request. Been here for years and doing things right. Only complaint is they don’t serve Coke Zero or Pepsi Zero.

This place is a gem! Excellent atmosphere and I hope it never changes! It’s like stepping into a Hunter S Thompson story. Great food and drinks as well. Definitely take the leap and stop by especially on Thursday nights!
