While driving through Illinois and the university part of Urbana , I stopped in for a lunch at the Bread Company .
Arrived earlier to beat any lunch crowd and the vibe was quiet , welcoming and relaxed. A fire was lit in the fireplace in the corner and it was very inviting .
Menu is a combination of cold and grilled sandwiches with a variety of different flavors. I chose a grilled Turkey sandwich with generous turkey and melted Gruyère cheese on a grilled bread with pesto. Delicious ! The star of the sandwich however is the bread . Well made with a good crunch and not too dense . Perfect for a good sandwich .
There are a variety breads offered and displayed in baskets . The staff was friendly and welcoming .
Parking was a bit tricky due to the college town but we were able to grab a good spot close to the restaurant.
Perfect place to have a very delicious sandwich while enjoying a cozy atmosphere. Wish we had a place closer to where I live .

A friend brought me for my first time, and it was awesome. The onion soup was delish. The Philly sandwich was quite tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a place I’d like to return to. I’d like to try more things on the menu.

Such an amazing restaurant on campus! The staff is amazing and so considerate of allergies considering their pesto contains walnuts. They welcome everyone so enthusiastically every time! My personal favorite is the veggie grilled sandwich. The bread is always perfectly toasted and the raspberry aioli pairs perfectly. Highly recommend as a date spot!

My wife and I went for lunch and had a great time. The cashier was super friendly and helpful when we were between items on the menu. The food was great. I had the cheesesteak and the wife had the pear and walnut sandwich, and we both had the french onion soup (we came here specifically for the soup). We took a loaf of rye bread home and have been snackin’ all day. Overall, really excellent afternoon and we’re looking forward to going back.

A lovely place to get dinner and drinks with friends and family. They have quite European style meals to order. The place has a very nice atmosphere. The service is mediocre. The food is quite okay. One note, no price tags on their menu . Overall, this place is very charming.

Genuinely one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. They don’t tell you the price, come to find out I’m paying 17.50 for a plate of pasta and 17.50 for a pizza no bigger than a frozen pizza you could get for $3 at Walmart. The pasta was excellent (not worth 17.50), but the pizza was the GREASIEST pizza I’ve ever seen. Zoom in on the photo attached to this review and you will see PUDDLES of grease. I’ve never once asked for a refund before, but the
pizza was so greasy I didn’t even want to touch it for fear of exploding my heart. When I asked them for a refund politely, they told me that’s how it’s supposed to look. Well, it looks awful and unsafe to eat. I wanted to leave the untouched pizza there, but my girlfriend didn’t want to waste the food so we boxed it up and took it home. Even the cats don’t want it. And I paid 17.50 for that! To top it off, they play doomer indie Tik Tok music to make you more depressed while you eat overpriced slop.

Great place. Has many vegetarian options. The veggie sandwich is super tasty. The strawberry salad was just the refreshing thing to eat on a hot day.

Delicious food and cool atmosphere. Workers were friendly. Lunch is for the sandwiches and dinner for the pizzas and pastas. Would highly recommend going at any time!

Good food. AMAZING streak bruschetta! Juicy and well cooked. Ambience is decent, I liked the low-key music playing. Only thing I didn’t like was that the plates and seasoning looked kinda old. You had to pick seasonings up yourself from one single counter. If it’s crowded, it’d not be well managed.
