Only 2 people sitting at the bar when we went. Plenty of open seating which was nice. Absolutely no music playing. Bartender was cleaning dishes, never once was greeted by him. Was greeted by the bar back and was promptly asked if we wanted water.
The bar is absolutely cluttered with bar items! No place to belly up and set your drink. We waited 11 minutes before bartender asked us what we were drinking. Our response was we didn’t know, because we weren’t given a drink menu (something that others had). Bartender went back to cleaning dishes and helping other patrons.
Atmosphere is pretty lack luster – needs improvement. Staff should be trained on how to interact with customers and should be reminded that’s why they are there.

This is such a fun and classy speakeasy type setup. It is located below Bode Gray’s and they offer their full food menu to be ordered from the bar. They have a good selection of just about any type of liquor you can think of. I had the “1893” cocktail from their cocktail menu. It was very good. The vibe in this place really is unbeatable.

The Brass Hat is hidden gem speakeasy tucked behind Bode Grays. It’s a great place to go for a cocktail and hangout with some occasional live music (checkout their Facebook page for details).

Nice cocktail, spirit, and wine menu and our bar tender Brandon made great drinks!

Definitely will be making the Brass Hat one of our regular drink spots.

**The food is the same menu from the restaurant Bode Grays upstairs which I would stick to appetizers and pizzas personally**

We went here on a Friday night to watch live music and have dinner/drinks. It was busy but we luckily snagged a table. I’m a gin girl and both their gin cocktails were awesome, and I also tried a tequila one that I loved. We all really enjoyed our meals too, and thought the portions and prices were good. The basement speakeasy vibe was fun and the wide open set up was great for music. Our server offered to split our bill (in reference to other reviews which claimed they don’t) and she worked so hard all night to keep up with the fully occupied tables. Will be back!

We stopped in after a lovely Italian dinner at Bode Grey’s. If the building that houses both was a house, Bode is the front entrance and The Brass Hat is the basement walkout behind. This place is a hoot! The staff is fun and engaging, the drinks were top notch, mixing flavors & fun holiday themes. The speakeasy is dark and mysterious and we went during the Holiday season so the overlay was a scream complete with Grinch and A Christmas Story themes everywhere. Dark atmosphere, campy lights, an ominous Octopus behind the bar- grab a hideous Christmas sweater and GO!

The Brass Hat is an awesome speakeasy! It has a fun nautical vibe and is very well decorated. The cocktail menu is great and they change it up periodically. My only complaint is the service downstairs is usually slow. I think a dedicated host would be a great help so the bartenders can focus their magic on making great drinks and not seating people!

We did not have food but loved our 3 different drinks. The directions to get to this place are a bit fuzzy at the end which could make it a bit difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Make sure you go around and park “downstairs” . Very friendly bartender. We love we they decorate for Halloween.

Love going to Brass Hat. The drinks are incredible, the food there and at Bode Grey’s is amazing, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. My favorite drink is the smoked old fashioned, but there’s so many others that are fantastic too. I try to find any excuse I can to stop by for a drink and bring family and friends to introduce them, too!

I also just want to give a quick shout out. Last night, I brought my extended family from out of town to Brass Hat. When we got there, the place was very busy and they had maybe 15 min where they were totally slammed. Because of this, there was a little mix up with getting our drinks. When I went to the bar to ask, they were incredibly apologetic and jumped in quickly to make the drinks. They went above and beyond to make it right, ensuring that we were well taken care of the rest of our time there. It was a minor mistake but as someone who’s worked in customer service, I know it can feel really stressful to have even minor issues that pop up – especially when it’s really busy. I really appreciated the staff’s response and hope the owners and managers should know that the team on last night was fantastic.

We can’t wait to continue to support Brass Hat and Bode Grey’s.

What a great find! A new addition to Waconia – pizza from Bode Grays (upstairs) and craft cocktails with dinner! Gabe made awesome drinks for us – great service, good food, excellent cocktails!

We met the bar manager Tiffany when we walked in and she was very welcoming. We had heard how great their old fashioned is online and it did not disappoint – pro tip, get it smoked! We live in the cities and are so excited to drive back for a date night soon for the ambience, drinks, and staff.
