The Boulders is a hidden gem just outside of Walker. It is a casual, fine dining experience without being ostentatious. The menu has great variety and everything we have tried has been prepared deliciously and plated beautifully. We’ve always received good service — from the hosts to the wait staff. If you’re alone or coming in without a reservation, the bar is a cozy, welcoming space with a great selection. We cannot recommend The Boulders highly enough.

We visited on a Friday night, party of four, with reservations. The place was full, yet we could still carry on conversations. Service and food were perfect. We had short ribs, paella, and ahi tuna. Everyone loved their choices. Ended up the night with cheesecake, carrots cake, and creme brulee. Cocktail choices were also plentiful. Very nice, memorable experience.

The dining room had an intimate feel, but was not cramped. The food was executed well. Six entrees were ordered and all tasted good. It merits the rating in my opinion and isn’t over inflated despite a lack of alternatives dinner options in town.

We go there every year for our anniversary. Every meal is fantastic! Great drinks, wine and beer selection. I had the ahi tuna, my hubby loves the paella, friends of ours had grouper. Walleye, filet mignon and ribeye with gorganzola; everything is excellent! Definitely get the artichoke crab dip with pita wedges for an appetizer. We also shared the double chocolate cake. Heavenly!! Make a reservation, it fills up fast.

Went on a whim for my birthday with my sister and my niece. We did not have a reservation, but we were accommodated nicely to outdoor dining, with a short wait time.
Hostess, Bartenders, and waitresses were very friendly.
The food was outstanding. Ribeye was grilled to perfection. The choices of desserts were irresistible.
Everything was very pleasing to the eyes, pallette, and stomach.
It was perfect.

The food here is phenomenal! Totally worth the price– the quality of it all is amazing. We got the Hot Crab and Artichoke Dip and the Sesame and Coriander Crusted Ahi Tuna for appetizers. The dip was one of the most amazing things I’d ever tasted. The tuna was very good quality and also tasted fantastic! For dinner we got the Crab Crusted Grouper, something I think was called Seafood Mornay, and the Skillet Paella. The grouper had a wonderful lemony sauce and melted in your mouth. The seafood mornay was something out of this world. The paella took my tastebuds to a whole new level. Everything was made perfectly! I hope to come back and taste their other dishes, I’m sure they’re just as spectacular!

We have gone to the Boulders many times over the years and this was the first time I was somewhat disappointed. Our server was very nice but clearly was swamped as it took along time to get our drinks and bread. I ordered the fish and it had changed from grouper to tilapia. That is always what I had ordered in the past. The salads were great. I had the wedge and it was crisp and the tomatoes were delicious.
My partner ordered the paella and was far far too peppery. He was actually sweating down the back of his neck. The sweet potatoes were extremely salty and I did mention it to the waitress. No need for so much salt or pepper as there is salt and pepper on the table. Were corners being cut? This is the best place in the area for fine dining and I hope that you will take these notes into consideration.

Went here for my husband’s 82nd birthday. The food and atmosphere were very good but the service was not. Our waitress disappeared on us a few times. Paid the bill with another server because we couldn’t wait any longer for our waitress to return.

The best restaurant in Walker and maybe in north central MN! The staff is so professional and friendly. Start with one of their martinis- you won’t be disappointed! I’ve enjoyed several different dishes- all delicious. Recently I had the Cassoulet which was a special- also delicious.

Our party of 6 enjoyed 3 delicious appetizers (crab and artichoke dip, duck wontons, and crusted ahi) and they were amazing!
3 of us had the Ribeye and each one was perfectly prepared. I was the only one that opted to keep the Gorgonzola but would have it on the side next time (it was a very strong taste).
2 of the guys had the pork shank—I tasted my husband’s and it was so tender and the flavor was amazing.
Lastly, my father in law had the prawns and said they were delicious!
The mashed potatoes were probably the best I’ve ever had, and the garlic butter served with the dinner rolls was a welcome addition to the meal.
Our server, Karen, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and took great care of us.
We will definitely be back!
