Simply… delicious, friendly, & a local favorite. I’m from out of town and my Halifax friends treated me to this incredible local find. The combination of ambiance (it was freezing outside but cozy warm inside!!!), friendly owners (Kristan is so helpful), extensive menu (catering to everyone from carnivores to vegans), array of craft beverages, and savory flavors – all made for a great dining experience. A down home, authentic and tasty addition to the Halifax dining scene (and at all-inclusive-no-tipping prices!) I can’t wait to visit again soon!

Unique dining experience for sure. No tip policy is legit and food is both creative and tasty. I was especially impressed by the “Tom’s Salad”, as well as the corn ribs. Complimented by a great selection of local beverages and a great atmosphere.

The rib bones slid away from the meat cleanly and without resistance! The nacho chips are fresh pressed tortillas from nearby restaurant Café Aroma Latino, and fried in-house! The burgers are cooked to perfection, juicy & full of flavour, topped to perfection!
They do not accept tips!! All employees start at $20 an hour and share in 50% of the companies profits!!

First time at The Bonfire was incredible! No tips and servers who are paid fairly!? What a foreign concept in an industry with businesses that rely so heavily on customers to subsidize the wages of their employees typically due to corporate greed. Anyhow, we went for a mix of appetizers, our server Ian was really kind, the food tasted great, and the portion sizes were so big that we tapped out and couldn’t finish them! Picture includes the Nachos, single size Mac and Cheese, and share size Corn Ribs. Highly recommend.

I have been here many times, with my husband and with friends. I love the business model, although it still feels wrong not to tip, considering the service you receive and the quality of the food.
The food is so flavourful, and the portion sizes are more than generous. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and there’s nothing I have tried that I didn’t like. I think the works burger is by far my favourite, and the corn ribs I think I’ve gotten almost every time I go.
The staff are always wonderful and they work hard. Kristyn and Vince the owners also work very hard and are kind and always pleasant to talk to.
The signs when reservations are made are a nice touch as well.
I also love the special drinks they serve and that they can be made non alcoholic if needed.
This is by far my favourite restaurant for many reasons and always look forward to coming back

I cannot suggest this place enough! The service staff were warm and welcoming, food and drink prices are on par with what you would expect at any other gastropub in the area (and no tips, which actually made it cheaper!), and the food was delicious! Plus, they have their own craft beer! We will definitely be going back!
Also, we went for our anniversary and our table had a hand crafted anniversary card! That little touch made our night extra special! We met the owners and they were absolutely lovely people! You gotta try this place!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant, especially for opening so recently. Even the drinks started off great, rather than using ice they actually freeze their glasses to keep your drink cold but not watered down! My husband and I each had a burger, one being plant based, and we were SO impressed. They were so well cooked, the buns were delicious and the garnishes were clearly fresh. Their fries are absolutely great, and the side portion is enormous. The corn ribs were delicious and well seasoned, I do recommend using the side of lime they come with for some extra tang. The charred Brussels were also a winner, the maple butter gives them a bit of a sweet taste, but not so much that it puts you off of the rest of your savoury meal. The only possible space for improvement is in adding some Halal meat options for those with religious restrictions. Between the great service, amazing food, and cozy atmosphere this restaurant is a MUST for anyone in Halifax. 11/10!

I came here for my birthday dinner and it was a lovely experience! The staff was super friendly and the service was great. Love what this business is doing with their profit sharing and no-tip model, prices were fair. I even received a free birthday dessert which is never expected but super sweet and appreciated! Will for sure be back! Also the corn ribs were 10/10

My daughter and I went in tonight for the first time and we will definitely be going back. We wanted to try a little bit of a few things so we got the corn ribs, the jalapeño poppers, brussels sprouts, the nachos and we added a side of tzatziki to that and we split the works burger. I also had the pickle Caesar and the basil strawberry smash drink and they were both really good. My daughter ordered a Diet Coke, which came in a frosted glass and that excited her because the Coke froze to the inside of the glass a little bit. It’s a little touches like that that create the experience.we also ordered the big pickle and that was also awesome because it was crunchy and a lot of times when you get big pickles they tend to get soggy in the middle, but this one was really good. We were extremely happy with all of the food,drinks and the service was great! Super friendly. I wish we had have taken pictures. We were just so excited to eat it that we didn’t think about it until we were done. If you haven’t already given this place a try you need to get there right away, run don’t walk.
