Reviews
The menu looks simple with enough variety. We had sandwiches and French fries. The food was good and well prepared.
The place is clean and was decorated with a mix of Christmas-winter-valentines. Very cozy and chill vibe.
The friendliness of the staff was great and I would say better than the average for this type of establishment going out of their way in making sure that our experience was what we were expecting.
The story here is, my mother usually orders a water with lemon when she is out to eat. They didn’t have lemons so she chose something else. Apparently the owner overhearing the conversation immediately ordered lemons to be delivered from Walmart. The delivery showed up while we were in the middle of our lunch and soon the wait staff was at our table offering to provide a water with lemon. So my mother was able to have her water with lemon after all.
After our lunch we decided to check out Nutty Netties gift store attached just off to the side of the dining area through a hallway. There they offer a variety of things including wall art, printed T shirts, 3D printed novelties, themed gnome figures, chocolate confections and more. While we were browsing the owner asked if we were finding anything that we couldn’t live without and so upon discovering that he and his wife were the owners of the establishment we had a delightful conversation about some of their journey to being in business such as they are currently. Turns out that the wife is the confectioner turning out her brand of formed chocolates and other goodies.
Other items available in the store are from other local small vendors who are able to market their wares in this space similar to the way that Netties got their start.
There was also opportunity to donate towards a local outreach organization helping with underprivileged and homeless teens in Androscoggin county, the “Store Next Door”, by buying a bell that appears to be 3D printed and contains a battery operated tea light. All sales of these goes directly to the effort of the Store Next Door. This promotion maybe a holdover from the holiday season so I’m not sure if or when it ends or maybe transitions into something else. One of the staff there seems to be personally involved with the project and was very well acquainted with it sharing many details.
The attitude of these people working at being an active part of the community doing what they can for others is a refreshing and very much needed way of living and being an example to those growing up into today’s society.
This is a place that I will continue to support with my patronage and praise for their example of doing their best in the place where we all are. I encourage you to do the same.
At the forty-five minute mark, our two sandwiches and salad arrived. The gluten free wrap arrived with fries and we had to get it refunded. They also gave the wrong bread for the chicken panini and the wrong salad dressing.
Place was likely very short-staffed, but that combination of wait times and incorrect orders (especially for an allergy) is not acceptable.
I’ll definitely be back to try their lunch menu and the baked goods (I overheard someone raving about them!). As an added bonus, there’s a charming little gift shop next door featuring all local makers. Such a great find! I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area!
