The Blazer Pub takes its name from a term coined in western Ireland in the late 1800s by a group of enthusiastic foxhunters and their hounds. After a day’s work, these hunters would gather in a temporary hut or shack to celebrate their hard-earned bounty. When the merriment ended, they set fire to the hut and watched while it blazed and burned down, thus enjoying the glow of the Galway Blazer. While the name has been around since the 1800s, the building was constructed in 1928, serving as a rest stop along Route 22. The owners sold hot dogs to weary travelers right out of the front window. By the early 1950’s, the rest area was fully converted into a restaurant and tavern. The Blazer Pub was first opened in 1971 by Tom and Emer Heavey….
Humble, long-standing venue whipping up burgers, sandwiches & wings, plus draft beer. Cash only.

We stopped at this place on the way home to Maine from Sleepy Hollow, NY. It was a random pick based on reviews and i’m so glad we did! The food was delicious! The burgers were huge and cooked perfectly to order. The buffalo chicken tenders were HUGE! The service was great. You can really see the teamwork! Didn’t have to wait long for a table either despite it being close to dinner time. Definately would reccomend! Definately a large amount of food for the money. We got two more meals out of the food!

I’ve been coming to the Blazer Pub with my family since we moved to North Salem in 2002, and I live just up the road. It’s the kind of place where you can relax with family and friends without any fuss—a true neighborhood spot. I’ve tried nearly everything on their menu over the years, but the staples never disappoint: their massive burgers and homemade chili are always on point. The house-made steak fries are incredible, and the wings are consistently tasty. When I’m not in the mood for a burger, the Cape Cod Reuben is a solid choice. If you’re driving up Route 22, it’s definitely worth a stop.

Standard fare, limited menu – but haven’t had a bad experience or a less-than-excellent meal. The fries are always great. Last visit, the chicken salad with cranberries was absolutely perfect. The Ruben is solidly pleasurable. The wraps never disappoint. Dependable, unpretentious, relaxed – very good food for regular people. Always busy. One of my few local favorites – and it’s 40 minutes from my house.

We had a bit of a mixed experience overall. The appetizers were excellent — we ordered the wings and fries, and both were really good. The blue cheese and ranch were especially tasty and clearly well done.
For our main courses, I had the Blazer Burger, which unfortunately didn’t work for me. The patty’s texture was very soft, meat tasted like it was washed in water before cooking, and the bun was quite a bit larger than the burger itself, which threw off the balance. My wife ordered a chicken wrap, which arrived cold.
That said, the service was very friendly and attentive. We did need to ask for drink refills rather than being offered them, but it wasn’t a major issue.
We would consider coming back, particularly for the wings, as those really stood out. Hoping the main dishes improve because there’s definitely potential here.

So this is probably the 3rd time I’m reviewing Blazer Pub.
I have to say I’m extremely disappointed. I’m a burger snob. I’m critical. The quality of your meat, the cheese offerings, the price, the shape of your burger, everything gets scrutinized.
This is the 2nd time I’ve gone to Blazer Pub in a row looking for a burger black and blue/mooing/rare. And when it comes out it’s medium to medium well. Gray… Through and through the burger.
Do not get my wrong. The flavor of the meat, the accoutrements, the service and environment are very good. However, I go to a mom and pop restaurant to get a burger the way I want it…. Rare and then some. It hasn’t happened in a while.
I suggest Muscoot Tavern for best burger in Westchester!

Confused. “Signature wings” came out dry, totally sauce-less and bland. We thought it may have been a mistake but based on photos, that seems to be the way they’re supposed to be? Cheeseburger someone had was fantastic. Service was absolutely fantastic and incredibly kind and fast. Nice cozy spot but definitely does not need to be in the Westchester NY wing conversation.

The food was absolutely fantastic—every bite delivered. The Blazer Burger was perfectly crafted with crispy bacon, melty cheese, and grilled onions on a hearty hard roll. Both the Blazer Signature Wings and Buffalo Wings were packed with flavor, especially with the double-fried crunch that made them stand out. The fries were incredible—crispy, golden, and addictive. Everything was so good that I left completely full and ended up skipping dinner later that night. Definitely worth it.

Waited an hour for a table and it sure was worth the wait. They don’t have freezers, heat lamps nor microwaves. Had their clam chowder, signature (twice fried) juicy wings, thickly hand packed cheeseburger, hand cut Idaho potatoes and shrimp caesar salad and everything was fresh and delicious.

When we are in North Salem, The Blazer Pub is a must stop for lunch. Great staff and food, it is a true local hotspot. We have been going here a few years and I remember eating there during the pandemic, They were a lifeline when there were not many options for dinning.

Absolutely fell in love. On a pilgramage to visit my wife’s childhood home in the area, we used The Blazer Pub as the maps destination. Little did I know we were in for such a great lunch. Crispy, crispy, tasty wings, delicious fries, amazing handmade burger, and possibly the biggest chicken tenders that ever were. And excellent blue cheese for the wings and tenders. The food was matched by the vibe. Old-school tavern with shuffleboard and one of the coolest bars I’ve seen in a minute. But beyond the food and the atmosphere, it was the service that makes it a 5-star for me. Friendly, homey, comfortable, just super nice. Really delightful.
I don’t want to oversell it too much, but like I said at the beginning, I fell in love. (And honestly, has there ever been a better name for a tavern, ever?)
