First visit was a quick stop for a beer with chips & queso (5 of 5). Tacos and quesadillas are also on the menu, with more items coming.
I look forward to many satisfying return trips, including with friends.
I stumbled upon the Black Rose while walking around the Northside area on Saturday evening. There was a DJ playing music and people out on the patio. The owner was outside, and he was very friendly, warm and inviting. I ended up going in for a couple drinks and just to hang out.
I was a bit disappointed with how long it took to get a drink. The bartending staff looked very overwhelmed and stressed. It was busy, but it’s important to keep a smile on your face and reassure waiting customers that you’ll be with them soon. After about 15 minutes of standing, waiting for a drink, I asked for a gin and tonic, but the bartender was not able to make it because there was no tonic water. I then asked for a margarita and was told they were out of supplies to make one… so I was forced to take a drink that the bartender made that was supposed to be similar to a Marg, and it wasn’t. :/. I couldn’t even drink the whole thing. Given how busy it was, I didn’t ask for a different drink or complain about it. From that perspective, I wish that for busier nights, the bar was fully stocked and prepared to serve guests and the staff were better prepared to be very busy but attentive to every guest. This would make the experience much better!
The patio vibe was cool. Mostly an older crowd of people. I appreciated that there was someone coming around to clear the tables of cups and plates frequently! I did not try any of the food, so I would definitely come back here again to try some of the menu. And I would come back during a time where it is not as busy, just to see what it’s like at baseline.
Again, overall I’d say the environment and the vibe is nice! I give it a 4 because of the long wait for drinks, inability to get what I wanted, and less than friendly bartenders, however it is a new business, so it will need time to work out the kinks. I’ll return and support! Excited to see the growth overtime.
They took my to go order, only to find out the Mexican restaurant has no Guacamole or avocados after I had paid for 2 orders of chips and gauc.
Said manager would be in the next day and reimburse me for 2 orders of chips and Gauc.
I did get my barbecue wings which were good.
If the menu had stated that they were $6 each I wouldn’t have ordered it
