Excellent breakfast at The Black Pearl, Rangeley this morning. I had the eggs Benedict, my wife had the skillet oats with maple and a slice of French toast. My friend had the sausage biscuit sandwich sans egg.

All really good. Extra props for perfectly cooked home fries. These ones aren’t crispy. But they’re super buttery and soft.

I highly recommend trying their breakfast!

The food was so good. Clam chowder, with haddock tacos znd chips. Diego, our waiter, brought over a basket of chips and salsa while we waited, a short time for our chowder. All of the food tasted great. They were all nicely presented. Whenever we are in Rangley again, we will definitely stop here again. Diego was great. He checked on us many times. Very polite.

We had a lovely time eating a late lunch at The Black Pearl. Our server was attentive and we received great service. He checked in on us several times. My partner and I loved the dishes, they were flavorful and everything was priced at a fair rate. In particular we loved the sweet potato French fries! They were so crunchy. We will definitely be back when we visit Rangeley again.

5 of us went for dinner. Seated at 6:04 and received dinner at 7:30. Slow service and place was not crowded. If kitchen was backed
Up they should have mentioned and given us the option if we wanted to wait or not. Food was subpar.. 3 burgers ordered medium all came well done. Fries were cold. Ordered the gourmet kettle chips as listed on menu and received capecod chips. Ordered a glass of wine that was delivered in a small juice size glass.. and i mean small. Could not have been more than. 4oz pour. Never again.

Stopped for lunch and got a table on the deck. Weather was perfect. Server very friendly and attentive. We had fish tacos and a bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. Both were excellent. I’d recommend you stop and try them out.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would.
This was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences of my life. If you’re considering visiting this place, think twice. The person who appeared to be the owner (though I suspect he was just the cook) acted in an outrageously aggressive and hostile manner.

The problem started because the waitress didn’t understand part of our order. Instead of handling the situation professionally, he stormed over and threw us out of the restaurant in a rude, arrogant, and almost threatening way.

I traveled all the way from Cancún, Mexico, expecting a pleasant meal, and instead I left shocked and deeply disappointed. No customer should ever be treated like this. Avoid this place at all costs.

Not impressed. Very slow. Took 15 minutes and two people to see if they offered hot tea. The food looked good but had no flavor. It took forever to order drinks alone so we put our food order in all at once and of course it all came out at the same time. The Mac n cheese was dry and the burger and chowder was bland. The side of Brussels sprouts were tasteless as well. No, we didn’t have colds or lose our tastebuds, it was just blah. The salad was the best part of our meal. It was a nice evening to sit outside hence the 3rd star given.

We had dinner at the Black Pearl in Rangeley on a Thursday night and it was very good. We sat outside on the porch deck and it was very pleasant outside. The service was good, drinks were excellent, and the food was well done. We will be back!

Note: this has replaced the red onion restaurant.

The Black Pearl is a relatively new restaurant in town and I’ve been there several times for breakfast as well as lunch. Lunch on the deck in the summer was great— enjoying a drink and watching Rangeley go by. For breakfast every visit has been better than the last. Yes, the first time it needed some improvement but it has. Their crab cake Benedict is delicious. Their home fries tasty. Excellent pancakes (a different style but so good). The new owners have been making steady improvements and the staff has been getting more skilled and efficient. Happy to have another great place to eat and drink in Rangeley.
