The Bistro is one of the best restaurants in San Miguel de Allende. We come back year after year because the food is consistently excellent and the service is outstanding. Francisco always takes amazing care of us and makes us feel welcome. The roast beef with green beans and horseradish was perfect, and the beef bourguignon is my go-to comfort dish on a cool evening. If you want great food, warm hospitality, and reliable service, The Bistro never disappoints.

Very pleasant outdoors atmosphere. I ordered the burger and fries. The fries were deliciously crunchy. However, the burger meat was extremely dry even though I ordered that medium rare. I’m willing to give this place another chance.

Good filet mignon and excellent angel hair pasta with shrimp. Calamari and apple strudel were also good. I would recommend they add white tablecloths to make it a little more upscale to match the food.

We can without a reservation on Valentine’s Day and were greeted with mucho gusto and given a table outside on the terrace – wonderful spot! Our party of six mostly ordered the Parisian Steak Frites, which was a marinated cut in a mushroom sauce, served with fries. One of our party ordered the Seafood Delight, which was mussels, scallops and shrimp in a garlic sauce served over fettuccine – delicious. I ordered a Greek Salad to accompany our steak dinner. Very nice staff too.

The steaks here are phenomenal. I had the filet mignon and the meat is delicious. I don’t usually eat beef in Mexico, but I took a chance tonight and I was not disappointed. It is not on the menu, but is a must order is the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Sergio and Diego took care of us and gave exceptional service.

Went to eat there the other day for the fourth time and I had a bad experience. The owner must have thought we didn’t speak Spanish because he was very rude to a member of his staff. He was very demeaning and the staff member was visibly upset. I have never seen such disgraceful treatment of a member of staff and to do this in front of customers was disgusting. He behaved like he owned the staff member – I have never seen anything like it before.
He also talked openly about about his political views which I found very uncouth and inconsiderate. I will not eat here ever again.

Had an excellent meal and great service from Chris and Alberto. The restaurant was pretty much empty which I don’t understand. We’ve been many times and the food and service has always been excellent. I would suggest a little art on the walls though…

We were so happy to have discovered The Bistro when we arrived back in town after a few years apart! What a breath of fresh air! Gilles immediately greeted us + was very welcoming with his recommendations immediately making us feel at home. We also noticed him inviting all the pups from the neighborhood to join on his patio providing water + dog treats! We also saw him walking a customer’s dog while we ate! What an animal lover! The iced coffee was delicious + we went with the salmon + I think our family did not not talk for a few minutes as we were completely entrenched with the deliciousness + presentation of the salmon dinner dish. It was PHENOMENAL. I believe it to be my favorite salmon dish ever (+ I eat a lot of salmon). Gilles wife, Alessandra, if often there + is just as lovely! She’s a sweetheart + the atmosphere reminds me of a Parisian cafe with the mirrors, seating + ambiance! Thank you Gilles + Alessandra for such a lovely experience! Kim + my family
