Although they have more food at the Best Stop off of I-10 at the Scott exit this place is still really great. I got an excellent gumbo pot for a great price. Super nice people working there and they have some really beautiful king cakes for Mardi Gras.

This is probably the best Cajun meat market in Texas. They also have a hot food section with tons of fresh Cajun food and seafood You can eat in their dining room. I also had the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in my life from there. It was boudin with bacon and egg on a homemade biscuit. Unbelievably good.

We hit up The Best Stop Cajun Market on Katy Fort Bend Rd and walked away absolutely stuffed and satisfied. Their smoked boudin link was rich and smoky, the boudin balls—both regular and with black pepper—packed a flavorful punch, and the red beans and rice offered that heartwarming, home-cooked feel. Authentic Cajun goodness in every bite! Can’t wait to swing by again and dig into everything else they’ve got on the menu.
Fun fact: this is the first Best Stop location outside Louisiana, bringing beloved Cajun classics like cracklins, boudin, po’boys, and more straight to Texas.

I was told about this place from a guy at work from Lafayette. He told no lies. I’ve never had a cheese burger taste like this. The chicken cracklings are top tier and the pork cracklings are soooooo flavorful. I’m about to cook the Cajun poppers and stuffed mushrooms this evening. Now, you’re gonna have to drive to get to HWY99 if you’re in Houston – but trust me – it’s worth EVERY MILE!!

The BEST Cajun food in Houston [area] and is authentic and original to Louisiana. They said their OG location is in Scott, LA and they have the most delicious foods here. If you ain’t had the chicken cracklins [with mustard], you’re missing out. They DO offer military discount so that helps with the prices.

The food was good, the service was great, but the prices are kinda expensive.

The crawfish etouffee ( Frozen ) was good but the crawfish were small and also some were shredded, the gravy / roux is very good! $25 riding the line of sit down dine in restaurant prices, bigger portions than a restaurant.

The chilli ( Frozen ) taste kinda like sloppy Joe, it has onion and tomatoes in it but no beans. Not my preferred taste. It’s not sweet but I wish it was spicier and more savory.

The BBQ burger was ok the sauce was good onions were fresh. both the burger and the po-boy can be customized I only got sauce and onions.

Stuffed bell pepper was good!

The sausage po-boy was very good but again kinda expensive for a single link sausage sandwich. $14 No fries no drink!

The wraps ( egg rolls ) were amazing the regular and the spicy, the spicy isn’t too hot, it’s not mouth burning.

The boudin balls were fried golden brown crispy on the outside soft on the inside very good!! The paper Jack cheese is mixed in with the boudin mix, a lot of places I been to inject it with cheese or place a square cut of cheese in the inside before frying them. Again not hot or mouth burning… Not even hot IMO.

Store has fresh cuts of meat, turducken, Cajun fried Turkey, bacon wrapped chicken, cracklings, smoked sausage, smoked boudin, big displacement pots for boils, lots of seasoning, hot sauces, boils, Louisiana based food products some that can be found at other stores some exclusive here. Jarred food and sauces.
I believe they cater or offer big quantities.

The store was clean, there is a seating area.
If you are ordering regular and non spicy mixed and feeding spice sensitive people ask to have the containers labeled I couldn’t tell the regular from the spicy by looking but could taste the difference.

Here goes nothing…

Just before Christmas, my husband and I visited the Best Stop location in Katy. He was stocking up on boudin while I stepped to the deli counter to buy cracklins and boudin balls for the ride home.

There was no one in line and one man working the deli. I stood patiently waiting while he worked with his back turned. I didn’t say anything because he seemed busy and we weren’t in a rush.

While I waited, a second line formed — not the NOLA kind — made up of people who looked like him, not like me. He immediately greeted them and served them, glancing in my direction twice without ever acknowledging or assisting me.

I felt tears well up and walked away, angry and hurt. When I told my husband what happened, the cashier overheard and kindly offered to get the items I wanted from the deli.

I noticed a card for the “owner” near the register and took it with me. After waiting a few days, I sent an email explaining exactly what happened — no response. I sent a Facebook message — no response. I sent a second message and was told someone would call me — no one ever did.

I am deeply disappointed in Best Stop Katy. This business originated in a place and serves food born from the blending of cultures. To experience this kind of treatment — and then complete silence from management — is disheartening. The culture Best Stop represents, Creole and Cajun, deserves far better than this.

Let me start by saying this place has a large variety of Cajun items. Very clean there was no line as we went on a weekday. The staff was very helpful and kind. So we tried almost 1 of each of the ready made fried selections which included boudin balls with and without cheese, chicken skins and crawfish pies. The chicken skins were ok they are definitely different than the traditional cracklin . It tasted as though there was a batter but also reminiscent of a jerky the flavor was not bad though. We did not care for the boudin as it didn’t seem solid it was a very wet bit runny texture. The flavor was not bad but it was a bit runny for our taste “this may come down to preference “. We also purchased the packaged smoked boudin you can take home to cook but it had the same texture. I would say give it a try for yourself.

So here’s a secret get there early in the morning the afternoon will be a crowd. This has all your Louisiana needs the cracklins and chicken cracklins were both good even the next day. We got a king cake that was also very good as well as sausage and boudin. Now there are a few things they don’t have or offer from some of the other Louisiana stores and they are a bit pricey that’s the only reason for the 4 stars. But I understand you don’t have to drive the 4 to 6 hours either to get your cracklins fix. With that being said I will stop here again it’s a 2.5 hour drive from where we live but we are in Katy alot or at least passing through so I would definitely recommend stopping in for sure.
