Walked in and ordered the Bento House sushi roll and the garlic fried chicken rice bowl. The sushi was fresh and delicious! The chicken was good but just a tiny bit salty. Overall, I had a great experience ordering, interacting w the staff and the food was good. Would definitely recommend and order from here again.

I really love this little place. The waitress (I believe also the owner and chef) is super kind and friendly. The food is really tasty and the portions are quite substantial. Now.. is this the BEST bento in the Bay Area? No. It’s not. But it’s not trying to be. It’s tasty and quick and a great option for midday meals.
I love the beef and chicken bulgogi equally and I always order with a beer. Not sure how but she’s got the coldest ever in Old Oakland.

The food was mediocre. I was surprised because there were some great reviews. In discussing my disappointment with coworkers who recently went there I heard the same sentiments – greasy and poorly flavored. Nonetheless, I rate the food 3/5. In regard to the atmosphere for such a small space, it felt like a safe place to eat. This for me is a 4.5/5. Where the place tanks is in the service. I ordered a plate during a time when it was not particularly busy. The host asked me to take a seat and then ignored me for 25 minutes. After all the other patrons left and to my surprise she inquired why I was waiting – she did not write down the order and had forgotten me. I waited for the food (yes, I was hungry), paid and tipped her (yes, I still tipped in hopes it would be great food). I rate this place a 1/5 for service and I hope you have a better experience.

Stopped by here on jury duty, the owner is very polite and friendly. Had the chicken katsu, it was quite pleasant. The only issue I had was with some of the flies buzzing about, but most places seem to have them here, would come again.

Food was decent. Smaller portions. Service was very lacking. The waitress never brought us any water nor asked if we needed anything once our order was placed. Tried numerous times to get her attention but did not come over once during our meal. I think she was probably also preparing the meals but not an excuse for the poor service. Oh, there were also flies flying in the air.
At the end of our meal, she didn’t bring us our bill and also overcharged me for their special. When confronted, she offered to pay me the cash difference and tried again to stiff me by offering less than the actual difference. I told her to keep the cash, didn’t leave a tip. Probably never going to eat there again.

Mediocre food. I wasn’t at all impressed. I took 35 dollars of take out. The woman working flat out refused to give me a plastic spoon. I told her I was walking and could I have a double bag to make it safer to carry my food. She refused to give me a second cheap super thin plastic bag. I hope saving 1/4 of a cent was worth this bad review and my never patronizing her business again. I almost forgot to add she gave me cans of coke not Diet Coke which I can’t drink. Never again.

My partner and I, along with two of our friends just came from the Bento House. Our service was terrible, the waitress kept insisting that we ordered without the two other people arriving. Once the two other people showed up we ordered our food. Our friends were able to have their food arrived and we waited for ours. Our food arrived and there was a hair on plate and I addressed it, she picked up the hair, threw it on the floor and said “no that’s your hair”. As we simply said “ma’am this is your hair you literally took it off and saw it, why don’t you just take it back?” She said, “no that’s your hair, stop”.. the point of this story is that we almost had the cops called on us because we did not eat the food, so we did not see why we should have paid for it. There are no cameras inside, only outside, so they can basically get away with whatever they want. I do not recommend going here.

Visited this week for takeout. Staff was super friendly and took great care to ensure there was no contact between us during the ordering and payment process. Food was great! I got the Bi Bim Bap which was very good and the prices aren’t too bad either!
