Reviews
Cons: small number of menu options, a tiny bit expensive (but worth every penny!)
The menu may be small, but I guarantee you, they’ve perfected cooking every dish on that menu and they are all outstandingly delicious. For the Mirror Room menu (alcohol), their mixologist/bartender really knows what they’re doing! The Bentley Rum Punch is phenomenal! For dinner, their pork ribeye is super tender and flavorful–the best I’ve ever eaten! Everything else on the dinner menu is also great, with my other favorites being the maple bacon bourbon salmon, catfish Jenkins, and crawfish bread. As crazy as this may sound, you HAVE to get their asparagus; I hate asparagus, and only ordered it to try to eat healthier, and it ended up being soooo delicious! Their brunch menu is also pretty good; even though their French Toast is only a la cart, it’s also the best I’ve ever eaten. That and some sausage makes a fantastic breakfast! For dessert, their beignets (which are pleasantly dense and come with this amazing latte sauce) and creme brulee are truly something else. Try anything on the menu, heck, try everything on the menu! It’s all *chef’s kiss*.
If you are in Alexandria–even if you aren’t staying in the hotel–I strongly recommend you eat here at least once, if not multiple times!
Again, old skool LA recipe – outstanding.
And generous portions
Just Yum
Crawfish Bread: very good, super cheesy, slightly soggy.
Catfish Jenkins : delicious, but order the fish fried, because the blackened is bland. We plan to order this again.
Sweet Potatoes: amazing!!!
Beans & Rice: also delicious, but different than what we expected; smokey, subtle flavor. We do recommend this.
Crawfish Mac: we wished it was listed as an entree!
Dessert: both the Strawberry Cheesecake & Banana Bread Pudding were excellent!! 10/10 HIGHLY recommend. I will likely be back just for dessert!
Brunch was…
Shrimp & Grits: fabulous; the gouda & creamy sauce MADE this dish; if you need NO shell, request the tails off! Otherwise, tails are on.
Sunnyside up eggs, Sausage, Biscuit, & Hashbrown patties: eggs were good, as were potatoes, sausage was bland & greasy.
Sweet tea is what you expect for good tea!
Peaceful, enjoyable environment. History all over the building.
At the front desk of restaurant, ask for Molly! She was so attentive at dinner. We were very impressed with her service.
