First time here as we’re only in Macon for a long weekend. Best meal we’ve had in months. Everyone working is super nice & sweet. I got lucky it was Friday so I got the fish filet, hush puppies, collards & mac n cheese. Everything was so tasty. My husband got fried chicken, mashed potatoes & green beans. We were both stuffed about 60% way thru. Lucky us later! I highly recommend. It is cafeteria style & then you go into a dining room. Exceptionally good meal. Thank y’all!

Someone told us to try this place, and I’m glad we listened. I ordered the fried chicken, mac and cheese, rice with gravy, and collard greens. Every dish was excellent. The chicken was perfectly fried, and the service was great. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.

Down-home Southern cooking at its best!
I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, cornbread, and a sweet tea. Honestly, some of the best home-style cooking I’ve ever had. The fried chicken was juicy with a light, crispy coating, and the mac and cheese—wow—completely blew me away.
I’ll definitely be back for another round the next time I’m in Macon.

My wife went to this restaurant late today. We all know that good is slim at the end of the day so she was not expecting much. She honestly just wanted some vegetables. As she walked in, she was greeted with, “we ain’t got nothing but vegetables!” Because of this, she decided not to order. As she left, she overheard another employee say, “people kill me comin in here late ordering food.”
This type of behavior is a significant departure of the conduct I would expect of Bear’s Den employees. I hope for better experiences in the future.

Came to this restaurant from being told this was a excellent place from the nurses in the office while bringing the family to a doctor’s appointment in Macon. This restaurant was so good, from the time we opened the door and was welcomed by the friendly servers, to being seated by the wonderful waitress. I got the beef tips with rice with Mac and cheese and dressing. Everything was nice and hot, the beef tips were well seasoned and very tender. Also tried my wife’s yams my son’s fried chicken, all wonderful. Owners should be proud of the employees working here very impressive.

The only issue you might have is finding a parking place.

A great little down to earth mom and pop restaurant. The food was great, hot, and fresh!!! There were 5 of us and we ALL enjoyed our meals.
The fried Chicken was great and the Beef tips and rice were just like my grandmother’s.

Really enjoy this place. Home cooked style food. Service was great. Very friendly and welcoming. Surprisingly as busy as it was, being lunch time, had no problem getting a table.
