⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A TRUE NEW ORLEANS EXPERIENCE — FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY

We had an absolutely amazing experience at The Bayou Kitchen & Lounge! Everything from the service to the food presentation to the incredible flavors made this a standout dining experience.

We started with the Voodoo Balls, NOLA Baby Oysters, and Down South Oysters — and each one was unbelievable. The oysters were fresh, buttery, and seasoned perfectly, and the Voodoo Balls had the perfect mix of spice and flavor with that signature Who Dat sauce. Easily some of the best appetizers we’ve ever had.

For entrées, I ordered the Bourbon Street Fried Rice, and it was phenomenal — packed with flavor, loaded with meat and seafood, and cooked to perfection. My wife had the Lake Pontchartrain with Salmon, and it was rich, savory, and absolutely delicious. The seasoning, the sauce, the portion size… everything was spot-on.

To finish the meal, the beignets were the perfect sweet ending — warm, fluffy, and covered in powdered sugar like true New Orleans tradition.

I believe they recently opened, so the restaurant isn’t yet saturated with New Orleans-themed décor — but honestly, who cares? The music playing through the speakers fit the vibe perfectly, the service was great, and the FOOD pushed our rating over 5 stars!

Highly recommend — we’ll definitely be back!

It’s been long over due for me to come here. I’m disappointed it took so long but I’m happy I got to eat the food today. Everything was amazing! All the pictures are labeled correct. Our server was T.Hill who was very welcoming. This place is 10 times better than Tibby’s. No offense to Tibby’s. If you like Cajun food then I highly recommend to come here and try it. Open 7 days a week. The prices for drinks are at a good price compared to other places here in Sanford.

Anyone who loves nola/ southern food has to come here. The patrons were friendly, the staff was spectacular. T was an amazing bartender who always had a smile on his face. The decor here is simple but lovely.

We ended up getting the shrimp and grits blackened and the shrimp po boy, also blackened. The first thing we shared was the gumbo and by god, it was as delicious as my grandmothers. The po boy was fully dressed and absolutely scrumptious, 10/10. Same for shrimp and grits. Delicious from start to finish. Thanks for the wonderful dinner!

Wanted to stop by and grab lunch and experience some good Louisiana kitchen cooking! Great lunch specials (smaller portions) service at the bar was good. Food quick. Jumbo was nice flavorful. Next time I will try 2 or 3 lunch options to really get a good feel for the food.

First time trying them out after seeing ads on Historic Downtown Facebook page.
I went shorty after they open their doors and the staff was friendly, attentive and quick to serve us.
I placed a to go order, wait was fairly appropriate for a walk in.
We order the Jambalaya rice it had great flavor, fresh and fair size for the price. Note this dish is spicy I’ll say a level 4 as my mouth still burns after done eating. But it was good as expected.
Also order 2 Shrimp po boys, also fresh, tasty and fair priced.
Would try again.

Just landed and wanted food from local vendors.
I had the Gumbo…phenomenal, does not disappoint, the voodoo balls, I had never heard of them, but they are definitely something I will get for a app every time and the Jambalaya was amazing.
I can’t say enough about this place, from the delicious food to the great service. It was all so great. But it was nothing compared to the friendship and love the staff all seemed to have for each other. Great place to eat and enjoy the company

Our server was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was upbeat and festive. We went on a Sunday afternoon so there was a DJ there and the music was great. There were a lot of good menu options and we decided on the Bourbon Street fried rice. It was a really good size portion, seasoned very well, not too spicy, and flavorful

Finally.
After almost 5 years in Central Florida from Houston, TX…we found some authentic Cajun food.

The gumbo is actually gumbo.
The poboys are tasty.

I haven’t been to sanford in awhile. I wanted to see what was new and I found this place on google. I had the Gator Po’boy sandwich and fries, made fresh with a side of fried okra. The food was amazing. I feel they need more lights and decor. I walked into a dark not sure if it was open kind of look. Food & Service good for my first. Will come back to try something different.

The food and service are absolutely amazing. The seating is basic, but well spaced. Highly recommend the crab cakes, étouffée, buck shrimp, bread pudding, beignets; really everything was amazing! We had a group of 4 and were able to sample a lot of options, and loved everything. The fried rice is on the spicier side, which our server did prepare us for, but the flavor was amazing if you’re ok with spicy. I plan to return and work through the entire menu eventually. It was that good.
