Social Profile:

The Ballering is a quaint dinner restaurant right in the heart of Kewaunee in the lower level of a historic three story brick building erected in the late 1800’s. We offer a very wide variety of food from a simple burger or pulled pork sandwich, to Ribs, Steaks, Fish and Jambalaya. We are a full service bar as well, with freshly muddled old fashions, excellent martinis and other craft drinks in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We serve wonderful house made desserts and espresso for a nice after dinner treat.

We had some drinks at the bar and then ordered the sweet Thai chili pork belly which was delicious. The ribeye cooked perfectly and the fettuccine alfredo was good but way overpriced. We did spend a great amount of money here. But it was Valentine’s Day, it was a nice atmosphere. Lidia and Mariah took care of us well since they were the only staff we saw.. One bartender and one waitress for the whole place. They posted a menu for Valentine’s Day on the website but did NOT have most of it available. They had ribeye with garlic butter shrimp for $38. The waitress told us the chef changed the steak on that special. That was disappointing! My husband ordered the ribeye and shrimp(that special was why we decided to try this place) we were charged over $50 for it. False advertising will not bring us back.

We had a phenomenal dinner at The Ballering. We started with the baked brie, perfectly warm and gooey, paired beautifully with a bright raspberry coulis that struck just the right balance of sweet and tart. The tomato and goat cheese soup was rich, velvety, and full of comforting flavor.

The mushroom appetizer was a standout—earthy, savory, and wonderfully seasoned. For the main course, we went with the pork chop special, which was cooked to juicy perfection. The pan sauce was deeply flavorful and tied everything together beautifully, with creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables rounding out the plate.

From start to finish, every dish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended.

This has been the second time we’ve been there for dinner and it’s been fantastic again! They do not disappoint! Old Fashioned drinks are delicious! The entrees are delicious and the appearance is very fancy! I had the blackened salmon with rice pilaf and the ham potato soup. My husband had the pork belly and smoked sausage with mashed potatoes. Our server was very friendly and efficient! Highly recommend going there!

We had planned to go to a supper club 10 minutes away, but decided to give this a try, as it was just down the street from our accommodations. We were very impressed! The service was excellent. The food was even better. The only downer was a poor selection of rye whiskey…but honestly that’s just being pretentious. Other than that, the space feels a bit cramped. However, it wasn’t completely full tonight, so it was fine. On a packed night, it might be uncomfortable.
Bottom line…I would absolutely recommend to friends, family, and neighbors. Well done!

The servers were great. We liked the historic building and the location near the harbor, park and gazebo. Outdoor seating is nice. The grilled salmon on the salad was a bit overcooked. Fresh breaded mushrooms were good, as was the lamb burger. The prices have gone up since the last menu was posted three weeks ago.
