Cute little find in Santa Teresa (Costa Rica). It’s a small, quaint restaurant / bakery with lots of baked goodies and sweet treats on display. However, once we found out they also served food, we decided to give them a try. The food and service is second to none. All staff incredibly attentive. The Mediterranean bread starter is to die for! Highly recommend. We then ordered a selection of mains to share (including burgers, schnitzel and salads). All super tasty. We ordered an array of sweet and desserts which were also so yummy. The Bakery has a lovely outdoor seating area which we took advantage of. Highly recommend this place.

You do not want to miss this place. First of all, they have GLUTEN FREE DESSERTS. I had a pistachio chocolate chunk cookie. Oh my goodness. Favorite. They also have sourdough bread option for the gfs who can handle sourdough. My kids loved the food here too. Top notch and lovely atmosphere!

I never leave reviews but we came back 4 times: for supper and for coffee and pastries in the morning. It’s honestly phenomenal food and that’s coming from a broke student. Anyways I recommend the mushroom gnocchi, it’s a must.

The price is pretty high but I understand this is a tourist area however some items on the menu seem overpriced food was okay not impressed although written on the menu most options sound amazing. The Bakery is easily one of our favorite spots in Santa Teresa, whether it’s for solo work, meeting up with friends, or grabbing a quality meal at any time of day. The menu works beautifully for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and everything we’ve tried has been consistently excellent!
We regularly enjoy the coffee here, along with the breakfast burrito, which is always satisfying. For lunch, the vegan shawarma — made with cauliflower and mushrooms — is absolutely delicious and one of our go-to orders. The kale and pasta salad deserves a special mention as well; it’s truly exquisite and unlike anything we’ve had elsewhere in town. We’ve also been exploring more of the menu and have yet to be disappointed. On the sweeter side, the vegan Snickers is a favorite, and drink-wise, the chai latte and coffee are consistently great.
The vibe is relaxed and inviting, almost like a small side-street café you’d stumble upon in Europe. The design is cozy, the seating is comfortable, and the noise level stays moderate — making it a great place to linger.
The Bakery is very close to the beach, which makes it a perfect stop before or after a surf, or when meeting friends nearby. Street parking can be a bit challenging at times, but it’s very walkable and absolutely worth it. This place does get busy and is clearly a hotspot, so timing helps — but even if there’s a wait, it’s worth it. Prices fall in the moderate to slightly higher range, but the quality fully justifies it. The staff are always friendly, smiling, and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience.

The coffee is excellent and the croissants are delicious. They also supply their baked goods to other cafés in town. The same owners run Namore, a very bougie, Paris-style café that feels like it was teleported straight into Santa Teresa.
While it’s a nice addition, it’s definitely on the expensive side for Santa Teresa—a place that was once an empty no man’s land and has since transformed into a buzzing surf town attracting travelers from all over. With new cafés like this, prices have been rising quickly, which makes it a mixed bag for locals. Interestingly, much of the strip here is owned by just a handful of people, which really shapes the vibe of the area.

Absolutely loved The Bakery in Santa Teresa! Everything we tried was fresh, beautifully made, and full of flavor. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into each pastry and bread.

Always busy because their food is amazing! Every dish that came out was plated beautiful. Their butter was the best I’ve ever had also. Inside and outside seating. I only had a croissant that just melted in my mouth. Definitely will be back to try other food.
