Wandered into the store just to check it out as there is a severe shortage of good cake bakeries in the area. I didn’t plan on getting anything, but the cake looked too good to resist. The coconut cake was the best cake I’ve had in years and I will definitely be coming back for more!

I’ve been following the Baker’s Grove on Instagram for sometime and when I had the opportunity to be in Shrewsbury today, I decided to go check it out in person finally… What a disappointment!
Despite their Instagram photos always showing cases filled with sumptuous and plentiful creations, the cases were all pretty empty with only about two or three different items at best. I was a little taken a back and selected a quiche and a dessert. There weren’t too many options, so it was pretty easy to select. Furthering my disappointment the young girl behind the counter, bagged my items, I paid by tapping my Card while she turned and already started helping the person that came in behind me. As I scooped up my two items, I scanned around the place to see where I can get some napkins as I wasn’t given any. I asked for them, and the girl opened drawer located behind the cash register on her side and handed me one. I said thank you, she did not respond and continued helping the other woman. I must say the two items that I purchased the quiche and sort of a doughnut were quite delicious but nothing that I would drive out of my way for. Unfortunately, the lack of service cinched it for me.

I was very excited to try out The Bakers Grove and it did not disappoint. We visited near closing during the weekend and luckily had some treats to choose from. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the pecan cinnamon roll – not because it wasn’t baked well; I just prefer less sweetness and pecan. But the croissant was devine! It was perfectly flaky on the outside, with a slight chew on the inside.

Every pastry I grabbed at Baker’s Grove was perfection: flaky croissants, fruit-filled danishes with crisp, golden edges, and a crumb cake that melts in your mouth. You can taste the real butter and fresh ingredients in each bite. Friendly, quick service and a display case that smells like heaven. Best pastries in Shrewsbury, hands down!

I recently stopped in here after many months of wanting to visit and I was impressed with the almost sold out display case at close to 1pm on a Saturday afternoon! That spoke volumes to the quality and the success they are having!!! I was hoping to try the chocolate cake but the chocolate cake was actually sold out so I opted for the S’mores tart and the Ube cheesecake.
Let’s dive into the details: the crust on both of these desserts are delicious and seemingly identical but they shine differently as they pair with the other ingredients in their recipe. The S’mores tart was rich in chocolate, with a toasted marshmallow topping. The cheesecake was big enough to share and also had some beautiful elements such as the toasted coconut, and the creamy whipped topping.
Their service was fast and the line moved quickly. I loved the big display window giving a visual to the hard work happening in their kitchen too, a nice personal touch indeed!
The location is perfect, there is a private parking lot shared with other surrounding businesses and there’s patio seating.
