I’m extremely disappointed with the food-to-go experience at this place, African Palace bar & grill. After spending $130, the quality, taste, and portion sizes were nowhere near worth the price. I imagine the cook was either high or intoxicated serving such. The plantains were burnt, meat pies were overly salt and had far too much dough. Egusi was completely plain with no flavor, which was shocking. The so-called beef stew was not a stew, it tasted like basic tomato sauce with a couple of pieces of beef thrown in. The goat meat was very tough, clearly not cooked with the stew, no spice or flavor. The jollof rice was dry, fufu wasn’t soft, and overall the food lacked the rich seasoning and care you expect from Afrikan cuisine. Between the poor preparation, lack of flavor, and small portions, this was a huge letdown. If you’re looking for good Afrikan food, save your money and go to the Bay for a better authentic Afrikan food experience. Not here. Listen to the other reviewers, they were right.

This place serves good Nigerian food with authentic flavors that reflect the richness of the cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it an enjoyable and comfortable space to dine. The owner is engaging, friendly, and clearly passionate about both the food and the culture, which adds a personal and inviting touch to the overall experience.

That said, there is still some room for improvement when it comes to the food itself. With a bit more attention to seasoning balance, consistency, and presentation, the dishes could be elevated to the next level. Overall, it’s a pleasant spot with strong potential, and with a few refinements in the kitchen, it could easily stand out as a top choice for Nigerian cuisine.

We really enjoyed this food.It was very authentic & Delicious. We didn’t break the bank when we ate out here. Each person was the average twenty-five with appetizers. The service was.
Okay. The music was too loud for a restaurant at 4 o’clock. The music was so loud that we almost didn’t come in. We thought we had the wrong place. It was like a nightclub. I’m glad we did. Other than the music level, we enjoyed the restaurant, which is beautiful.I would suggest a restaurant to go to.

My granddaughter and I frequent here at least once a month. Our favorite is the Egusi Soup with either fish, chicken or beef. Sometimes goat. Don’t forget the FuFu!!! It’s so delicious and we can’t wait to go back!

Greeted by a horrible host who seated us but never came back to take our order. I waved to get his attention and he picked up his cellphone and walked back into the kitchen. Another person from the kitchen came out, walked around and finally, as we are the only customer there, took our order and then came back after five minutes and ask about what we ordered again. After 10 mins he comes with our food and gave us microwaved food. I believe all they did was fried the chicken and put the sauce all over it.
The fufu (that I was looking forward to) was not fresh, small and not cooked thoroughly. The food did not taste or looked like what I have had before. The customer service was horrible, we didn’t get any napkins and no water refills. The same guy finally came back from the kitchen and just waited for us to ask for the check. Don’t waste your time or money on this place.

I called in my order. I got the jollof rice with the grilled tilapia. I really wanted to like this place but it was highly disappointing! The fish was nice and moist but it lack flavor I had to use a lot of hot sauce to bring it back to life. The sauce that came with the fish taste like fish oil I couldn’t use it. There is absolutely no way that jollof rice was made today it tastes like they made it on Friday and today is Sunday it was incredible dry and also lack flavor. I expect African food to have a kick with lots of spiciness it didn’t give me any of that. I don’t even need to talk about the salad just look at the picture I didn’t eat that either. I gave it a extra star because the customer service but sadly I will not be returning. The meal cost 20.99

Good food but the service could be better. Maybe it was just the time we were there or they were short with people to help, but the level of service we got was a bit subpar. The server even forgot to place one of the orders for our party. I do agree with other reviewers that the people are friendly though. If you don’t care about service and just want to get some good African food, i would recommend this place.
