Stopped by for lunch after a walk around downtown new Bedford and was so glad I did!!! The focaccia pizza was so good and the lavender lemonade was my favorite!!! Not pictured is their cinnamon bun with cream cheese icing. Loved the ambiance. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, and staff liked each other and got along well. Immediately makes you feel welcome! They know their regulars orders and their packaging and bakery case are on point.
I’m starting school next week and I know where I’ll be getting my coffee and sweet treats!!

“I come here a-lot especially in the morning! The bagels, especially when they get the cream cheese just right, are the best I’ve ever tasted . I’d also recommend checking out their lunch menu there are some tasty options there as well. I really like that the food is great quality for a good price.” The staff are also always welcoming and accommodating as well!

Whenever I’m even NEAR New Bedford, I make sure to stop by The Baker and bring home enough goods for my whole family. We love the linguica cheese rolls, almond croissants, and all the breads/bagels. You really can’t go wrong with any of their freshly baked goods. Staff are always friendly, helpful and kind.

I’ve been here twice. I just think pastries are okay at best. Base is flaky and nice but everything I tried just kind of lacking flavor. Delicious herbal tea though!

We visited on a Sunday in mid-June 2025 for breakfast before heading over to the New Bedford Whaling Museum.
There was street parking available but we parked a few blocks away closer to the museum.
This was father’s day and the place so super busy. We arrived right before 9AM and the line was just outside the door. We waited over 15 mins to place our order and another 10 or so for our order to be prepared. They had so many staff behind the counter it was crazy but they were a well oiled machine. I don’t know if this was more traffic than normal. There were already multiple items sold out before we got to place our order.
We ordered:
– Strawberry Crumb Danish Roll (my favorite)
– Cannoli 4-pack chocolate & Pistachio (nothing special)
– Canele de Bordeaux (very good)
– Brown Butter Bourbon Sugar Cookie (very good)
– Oatmeal Crack Pie (Wife’s favorite)
– Coconut Cream Pie Tarlet (good)
– Taro Lavender Latte (everyone tried some and it was good)
The atmosphere was great. Even though we were all waiting in line to order and to pickup our food, there was no angry faces or shouting or screaming. Everyone looked genuinely happy and making small talk. They had regulars in there who seem to know the customers and the staff. Very wholesome place. We didn’t feel out of place being tourists. We would 100% come back again. The food was very good.

Such an amazing business. Every baked good and beverage we ordered was perfection. We were greeted warmly by Victor who was such a kind, charming presence. Dakota at the register gave some great recommendations and the entire staff although very busy, were so friendly. Such a great and happy start to our Saturday morning. It was so good we had to grab items to go for our family to enjoy as well.

Return trip to the Baker. They had a Nata Donut on special. It was fantastic. They previously had a Dubai Pistachio chocolate donut, which was excellent as well. The bacon quiche is a winner. The linguica pretzel is solid. Can’t go wrong with a breakfast sandwich on a Asiago bagel with Swiss cheese, bacon and a side of Sriracha sauce. Have tried the bread pudding as well. For breakfast, I’d stick to the sandwich or quiche. The bread pudding is closer to a snack. It’s sweet, salty and covered in chocolate chips. Bring a Quarter to feed the meter or use the parking app on weekdays. They are also brewing Speedwell coffee, which is excellent. I no longer like it, I love it. Bumped up the stars from 4 to 5 on the quality of the product alone.

Cute spot with a well rounded menu. I got the smoked salmon bagel, an “Oreo” cookie, and a taro lavender latte with oatmilk. All were pretty good. Only slightly negative comment is on the bagel. The bagel itself was overpowering the flavor of anything else. The whipped cream cheese was totally washed out by it. The secondary flavor was the pickled red onions. Although one of my favorite things, it was the only other thing I could taste besides the bagel. Bummer. Service was awesome. My bagel was taking a minute. Two employees noticed and jumped on the person making it to get it out next. I’d come back! Check it out yourself!

Food was a 10 out of 10. Our sandwiches were so good and fresh. The croissants were fresh and home made. The real concern was “Is the allergy a life and death situation?” This is what we were asked by grill staff member after letting the staff know about an allergy. All while your serve safe certification hung from the wall. All allergies should be taken serious. Coffees spilled by staff and not remade. Almost $40 for 2 sandwiches, 2 coffees and a pastry is quite expensive. Would be back but don’t necessarily feel comfortable eating here again.
