Honestly worth the hype. If you order something bad, thats on you The texture and fluffyness of the bagels are so good. The egg bacon and cheese are not dry and nothing feels too dense. The sweet cream cheeses are not that flavorful but thats probably a sign of less sugar.

Bagels are nice and chewy with a good crust. Price point is a bit high but the specialty bagel sandwiches are really filling. I wouldnt recommend it as your go-to breakfast joint if you’re looking for a standard bagel or sandwich, but there’s a lot of variety that makes it fun and a great place to try with friends.

Super dope place for bagels. They have many unique creations. Staff is friendly and service is pretty quick even for a busy spot on a Sunday morning. They have a lot of different specialty bagels and cream cheeses. I ended up with a pumpkin French toast bagel with apple pie cream cheese and a jalapeño cheddar bagel with scallion and bacon cream cheese. The pice point was high. But it was worth it to me to try it once. It was about $14-$15 for both bagels. I wouldn’t get the combos I did every time I go but I’d do it once in a while.

Undercooked and overpriced….
Should be the new motto of what used to be one of my favorite joints . But with growth comes sacrifice. And I imagine because the Nook has two or three new shops, that the food preparation and availability have fallen off. I ordered a Flaming Hot Cheeto bagel with Flaming ranch CC. I was told they don’t make them anymore and accepted an everything in its place. And there was no Flaming ranch available either, so I accepted a Buffalo CC instead.
Now if the substitutions were up to par, I would have given the Nook a break. But I got an uneven amount of spread on an under cooked bagel and they could not even scoop it. So what I ended up with was, a game of Russian roulette on a bagel. Take a bite on the right side and the Topping with shift to the left, take a bite on the left, and the topping would squirt out of the front. I know I might sound like I’m picky, but these guys took great pride in their selection of bagels and their preparation of food. My feelings are, that the quality in preparation have fallen to the wayside because of the amount of stores they have opened. I’m sure that people who started bagel nook would be disappointed if they could pop in on their other shops. Nevertheless, there are many bagel shops around the Matawan and Aberdeen area to go to and I think I will just stick with those. They are very simple bagel, shops, but they take pride in their simplicity and preparation. Sorry that the nook has fell into its own nook. And it’s not a good one.

The bagels here are unreal. Easily the best in New Jersey. I’ve been coming almost every week for a while now and the food never disappoints. But the staff… they make the experience miserable. There’s barely ever a greeting or even a “hi.” Half the time the girl taking orders is leaned over the counter scrolling through her phone while talking to people. Like, why is your phone even out while you’re working? It just feels lazy and unprofessional. Today one girl got frustrated with customers and said, “I can take anyone else over here… okay or not,” in this annoyed tone that made everyone go silent and feel uncomfortable. The woman who took my order didn’t even look up, messed up my order, and when I pointed it out she just said, “Well you said you wanted this,” and then went “mmkay” after I apologized and corrected myself like I was bothering her. Again, her phone was on the counter and she was leaning over the counter (having her elbows on it) instead of standing upright. These are tiny things that do make a difference in the atmosphere and in how customers feel as someone who worked in food service for many years.
The bagels are a 10/10. The people working there? Absolutely not. It’s such a shame because the food deserves all five stars, but the service drags the whole place down every single time.

So I have to start off saying that the food is Hands-down, amazing! I have yet to try anything at this establishment that I have not fell in love with.
But I must say the workers have very poor customer service traits.
I said in today for dining, enjoying my amazing buffalo ranch chicken wrap, and I just sat there for a few minutes, listening to a few of the staff members parade a woman who was still on the phone yelling about her, asking to speak to a manager. Then rudely telling her to call back tomorrow. Once off the phone, they proceeded to joke and talk. Smack about the lady And laugh about how snooty they were to her.
Anytime I have come into place my order. I have always noticed how their demeanor was so dry and acted “over it”. But today was a whole other ball game.
I really would love to say that I won’t purchase anything from this establishment, but I’m not sure how long that would last since the food was absolutely amazing.
But I really hope someone Takes a very good look at their staff at the Matawan Establishment.

I came here today for lunch and the employees were basically standing around on their phones. I waited and didn’t notice anyone even doing my order. Place was empty. I went up to the counter and said something, and they finally realized that it was sitting there waiting and then started the order. You really should have a no cell phone policy. Just saw a Gems Bagels opening down the street. No need to come back here anymore.

Crave satisfied. Egg everything with lox cream cheese. Great flavors. Ice cold cream cheese. Salty heaven. Bagels could have a little more crisp but lets see what happens when the humidity drops. Yeah… humidity affects bread. Understand?

The bagels here are fresh and taste great, but the service leaves much to be desired. The price on the screen menu for the avocado blast was $1 less than what I was rung up, and when I raised it, I was told they “charge extra for a different bagel chosen” But that was already a separate line item — the base charge itself was wrong. Since I got two, I was overcharged $2. When I asked about it, the server just looked at me like a deer in headlights instead of bringing over a manager. Then upon pick up when I asked to have my plain bagel sliced, I was told, “you didn’t ask for that when you paid, but I’ll do it.” Really? Great bagels, but very poor customer service. Watch out on prices!
