Tinley Bowl + The Backyard does not disappoint. The staff members are beyond welcoming, enthusiastic, and truly go above and beyond to make sure that guests are comfortable, satisfied, and enjoying themselves.
I contacted The Backyard for a Charity Event last summer with an anticipated attendance of 60-100 people. Staff members not only assisted me in setting up tables, chairs, and coordinating various Volleyball and Bean Bag matches in a tournament style, but they also took care of everything in reference to food, drinks, music, and facilities. The event went amazingly smooth for its first year, and with the assistance of their Event Coordinator, Food and Drink Staff, and Maintenance Crew, we were able to provide guests and attendees with an unforgettably fun experience that benefited an amazing Charity Organization.
The amenities were clean and well-taken care of and the event took place on a huge lot with multiple sand volleyball courts, designated areas for a 30+ person Bean Bag Tournament, as well as a patio area with an outdoor bar and plenty of seating.
The atmosphere was energetic, friendly, accommodating, and spacious, allowing guests to participate in various social games, raffles, and auctions, while at the same time allowing attendees the space to set up tents, camps, and team areas where they could relax and enjoy themselves in between games.
The beverages were cold, crisp, and refreshing, and the bar menu has everything you could want and then some, with an entire full bar on the patio. The food was piping hot, prompt, and delicious – Their specialty pizzas are phenomenal and always hit the spot (Try the Chicken Bacon Ranch!). Both food and drinks are extremely reasonably priced, with tons of seasonal specials, and service is top-tier. You can’t go wrong.
If you are thinking of planning a special event: birthday party, engagement party, graduation party, baby shower, retirement party, charity event, athletic tournament, beer league event, reunion party, or anything in between, do yourself a favor: contact The Backyard and let them know your idea. Even if your event is not completely developed: let them know what you are trying to do, anticipated guest list, basic concept, and end goal – The Backyard will make themselves available, assist you in making your event truly one of a kind and ensure that it will be fun, family-friendly, safe, and special.

I’ve played in the volleyball and bags league here for years and it’s always a great time. The additions of additional volleyball courts was a great and now the renovations to the backyard bar have made it sooo much better. It will be an awesome place to get outside and hang out all summer!

This is such a nice place! The volleyball courts are in a spacious area, there are refs for the volleyball games, the grounds are super clean and have been done very nicely. Bonus points for plenty of parking. The staff and service is awesome! Very enjoyable patio.

It has been 7 years since I started playing volleyball at Tinley Bowl’s Backyard. Back then I got a lot of questions about it. The most common one? “They have an outdoor area?”
Well, it is hard to miss it now.
Recent renovations have turned what was once a charming but dated beer garden into an amazing place to spend a summer night with friends. And despite all the new faces, the atmosphere has remained just as friendly as it was back when my friends and I were struggling to get the ball over the net all those years back.
